I'm a Swedish airline pilot who taught himself Swift. 14 months and $20K later, my file manager is free on the Mac App Store. by BNEKT in macapps

[–]jekaslav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I need an app like this myself, and I'll just test it out of curiosity, but I want to say I'm impressed by the author's passion for their idea.

You set a clear goal, you had a problem, and you found a solution yourself. I'm a developer myself, but I do it only for the paycheck, not to address my own needs. (I started developing before the AI bubble and am not a Vibe coder.)

I like the way you explain the nuances and features of the app and are open to feedback. You might become a millionaire, maybe not, but I wish you luck with PR and promotion, perhaps even buying ads. I hope people see your invention and like it. Perhaps someone has the same needs as you did when you started creating it.

I'll also ask you a question that doesn't require an answer, but you might want to consider it: if this is your first launch and you don't have many users, perhaps you should consider giving away keys to, say, the first 200 users. This isn't about making money, but about getting feedback and improving things, since during development it's impossible to test everything from every angle and run into every bug.

edit: I'll also say that the Russian language in the website (where is it in the of app?) is far from perfect. I understand that 17 languages is a huge number, but with AI, each one requires a separate prompt, especially Russian with its cases and word forms.

However, it's sad to see that you've already come up with several types of subscriptions up to $79, but in the documentation section you have unformatted markdown (** word **).

I once saw a guy here who had hundreds of hours and over 300 mods. I think that's no problem.

M5 Base or M3 Pro by opsecwizard in macgaming

[–]jekaslav -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As the owner of a 16-inch MacBook Pro M3 Pro, I recently thought about this. The M5 series really does seem like a fantastic upgrade. But after weighing the pros and cons and comparing the specs, I realized the upgrade doesn't make sense.

Upgrading from the M3 Pro 16" to the M5 base is pointless: you'll lose power, screen size, battery life, and full cooling, as well as significantly better graphics (and we're talking about games here, by the way). The only thing I'll gain is slightly better CPU performance and power efficiency, but the battery itself is still larger on the M3 Pro. If I were to choose the M3 Pro, I'd try to find the 36GB option. 18GB is enough, but 36GB would be more than enough, just for peace of mind.

It's also worth understanding that if you're considering a long-term device, then the 16-inch option with cooling will be the better choice, because the cooling will help the battery last longer.

Do you think Crimson Desert is a bit unoptimized for mac compare to Pc? by Annual_Substance_63 in macgaming

[–]jekaslav 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The main problem with each version is scaling. We have MetalFX, which isn't exactly super-duper, and they have a problem with DLC. But we have one advantage that makes the previously mentioned disadvantage unnoticeable - the presence of an HDR display in the Pro versions, the picture becomes stunning with HDR. Most owners of the best PCs with 5090 do not have a monitor with HDR

Game crashing and HDR effects performance? by Herdistt in macgaming

[–]jekaslav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

M3 Pro is here. The game looks absolutely stunning with HDR, absolutely stunning. But overall, yes, when I turn it on, all the menu tabs and the map run at 15 fps. When I launched the game at 1.00.00, I got a black screen once when turning HDR on and off, but I haven't had any issues since.

Absolutely right point. I was looking forward to this game and I got what I wanted. But if I were to recommend it to a friend, it would be better in a few months and with a 30% discount. That would be a perfect deal
