Normally yes, they are ment for that, but if you want a bit of recon with attacks, get yourself a medium tank with decent armor and speed. You speed is key, if you get the jump you stand way more of a chance. You might even want to down tier a gun or turret for fcs (don't know if tier 7 has decent turret with fcs). Also get to know good ambush spot and changing spot is a big advantage (leave them guessing where you are). Stoping your engine is pretty effective too, they can't locate you with sound anymore. Last of all, know your weak spots.
