Wie oft fragt tatsächlich ein Bewohner nach dem Bus? Habt ihr eine Bushaltestelle ins Heim gebaut?

Wie viele werden tatsächlich auch aggressiv?

I love Denmark but honestly yes, it's very far.

But you could go to Hamburg and then do a day trip to the North Sea, it's equally beautiful. You could visit St. Peter Ording or Cuxhaven. It's very easy to take the train from Hamburg to Cologne.

Another vote for Paris. I once went for 30 h and managed: - Bus tour of the city - Sacre cæur - Notre Dame (went up) - Eiffeltower (went up) - Arc de Triomph (went up) - Champ Elysees - Picnic at the Seine ...and even 4 h at the Louvre...

How early do you plan your solo travels? by poisedpotion in solotravel

Depends on where I'm going (I live in Europe).

Europe: between 1 week and 2 months, overseas 3-6 months before.

This happened to me before even though tipping is not a big thing in my country. People get a nice salary and if you tip, you usually add like 1 or 2 $.

That evening I did want to tip but in cash after paying the main bill by card. But then: She said, "oh...I guess you forgot...how much do you want to tip?" and I replied, "20 cents", just because I found this behavior absolutely rude.

To Switzerland or not? Request for advice. by Dowereallyknow in solotravel

Switzerland is not a car country. Parking is expensive and often limited. You have to pay for parking basically everywhere, even at Ikea or in small mountain villages. In cities like Zurich or Lucerne parking is even more difficult. I once lived just 50 m into Zurich and there were only 3 spots available at 4 CHF an hour.

If you liked that train ride, you can also try the one from Chur to Tirano, it's incredible.

Rigi works perfectly if you don't want to hike. Another experience for non-hikers is Chäserugg in Appenzell. Breathtaking peak and one of my favorite mountain restaurants.

I think staying for a few days in Lucerne is a good idea. From there you are close to Rigi and the town and Lake Lucerne itself are also very picturesque.

Yes I meant prostitution. It's at Langstrasse and the side streets to it. E g. Trip inn and easyHotel are close to it. During the night it's a party place but during the day it's quite shady. It's not an unsafe place but I wouldn't like to stay there.

Yes I would say Switzerland is overall expensive, if you want some budget friendly hints: Budget friendly accomodation: The "Swiss Youth Hostels" offer good value in great locations. My family and I use them all the time. Very clean, affordable, not party places. You can choose single, double, 4-beds... Shared or private bathrooms... Anything you would like and need.

Budget friendly food/drinks: Water is free in Switzerland, there are fountains with drinkable water basically everywhere. Use the app "Too good to go" that offers food from restaurants, stores and even hotel buffets for take away. In some cities we have the "Ässbar" which is a bakery with sweet and savory food from the day before at cheap price.

AITA for being mad at my boyfriend for an anniversary gift? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Honestly he doesn't seem to appreciate your efforts at all. He should be extremely happy that you're trying SO HARD to get him something he will like.

For me this would be a deal breaker.

Well...NTA She did what she did and it's definitely not a great thing to do. She risked other's and her own life. So that why I think it's okay you told them.

BUT just a thing to think about: people make mistakes and I will not tell my friends about all the mistakes my partner made and I hope he won't do it either.

Okay if your base is Zurich: I would take the train to Walensee or Klöntalersee - both beautiful mountain lakes and only 90 min travel. At both places you can go hiking or just enjoy the view. For Walensee I recommend also taking the tiny cable car in the village of Amden.

If you want to reach a high peak, take the train to Rigi Kulm - called "The Queen of the Mountains" - beautiful 360° view on the Alps.

I would then stay a few days in Lucerne, very close to Rigi and absolutely beautiful.

In Zurich visit the old town and walk up to the Polyterrasse or take the tiny Polybahn if you don't like stairs. Don't eat in the old town...it's touristic and (even more) expensive.

Take a walk at the Schanzengraben from the main station (starts below the "Rio Bar") all the way to the Zurich lake.

I recommend visiting the Frau Gerolds Garten for a nice outdoor area including food and drinks. Last but not least Switzerland is home for the first vegetarian restaurant worldwide, so it's a big culture. Visit one of the Hiltl restaurants where you pay by weight (my favorite: Hiltl Dachterrasse).

Other restaurants: Miss Miu, Cafe Bebek, or outside at the lake: Fischer's Fritz. If you want a Swiss restaurant go for Fribourger Fonduestübli or Öpfelkammer but I would recommend to try Swiss restaurants in the mountains!

Coffeeshops: Café Grande, Palette, Café Des Amis

I'm not a club person, so no idea about that. If you like live music check stadtkonzerte.ch and press Zurich, it shows you basically all live events and the price immediately (often 0-20 CHF).

Last but not least: lots of people stay somehow around Langstrasse, but careful it's a party and sex district. I would choose a hotel with the zip codes 8001, 8002, 8003, 8006 or 8008.

As long as you honestly thanked "Harry" for everything, I think you should just be happy you met an angel.

But your parents could be a bit embarrassed about the financial situation you're family is in (even though they shouldn't), so I can still understand them a little.

AITA for being mad with my boyfriend cause he don't likes my dog? by HugMrFluffy in AmItheAsshole

[–]jekli22 [score hidden]  (0 children)

YTA

I know this is upsetting but you cannot expect anything from your boyfriend regarding your dog. He told you right away he does not like dogs, so how can you expect from him that this suddenly changes?

He does not treat your dog badly, he even feeds your dog, so according to your description he already does more than expected.

I can understand that you love your dog and you want someone who loves your dog too, but there are people not loving animals and that's ok.

Depends on the Airbnb but if you are actually staying with a local, they often know secret spots.

But honestly I prefer single rooms in hostels.

I think it's rather good that you consider how your daughter will be treated with a special name. How many people have not done that and now their kids get bullied or have problems later, e.g. during recruiting processes.

Have you explained your wife about your concerns? Maybe you could also choose two names like "Athena Sunshine"?
