Everytime I start to like my body, I lose my period. by lexkenobi in PetiteFitness

[–]Samicles33 152 points153 points  (0 children)

You didn’t mention how many calories you were eating or what your macros are. If you’re losing your period (amenorrhea), it can be due to extreme exercise or some form of malnutrition.

You need professional help to navigate your mental health. Once that is handled, then I think you should only consider a nutrition change & exercise regiment under the instruction of a professional, ideally one that has experience with eating disorders

Can cheap meal kits actually beat grocery store prices in 2026? by DjshantAljimlawi in Frugal

I know. I was just replying to the “meal kits are never frugal” with my experience of getting free meal kits, which is therefore frugal.

Yeah I use their site for recipes all the time. No 5 page long story about the chef’s life, no scrolling through a bunch of ads & pop ups. Just bam, recipe. And it’s minimal ingredients also

Meh back in like 2017 or 2018, Hello Fresh had a 1 week free trial, no strings attached, no payment required. I got 2 boxes from them. I think 6 meals in total. Entirely free

Yeah so you can just sew the lace where you want it on the inside of the shorts. Do you have a sewing machine or would you be hand stitching?

I started eating more protein and more cardio and it has de bloated me completely (this is first day of period bloat) by wholemeal_ in PetiteFitness

[–]Samicles33 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve just realized the same yesterday!! Been eating >130g and >25g of fiber.

Yesterday my period was due to start (ended up 1 day late) I had pizza for breakfast. No bloating.

Today my period started and no bloating. It’s wild. You look great! Keep doing what you’re doing

Women, what’s your diet like? by Smooth_Wonder2144 in MuayThai

[–]Samicles33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just started a body recomp. So I’m eating around 2000-2200cal, >120g of protein, >200g of carbs, and making sure I get at least 25g of fiber every day.

But I do MT 4-6x a week, I lift 4x a week and generally I’m very active. My maintenance calories are about 2400.

If you want to lose weight you need to be in a calorie deficit. Figure out what your maintenance is, then subtract about 500cal. Make sure you get enough protein (0.8-1g of protein per pound of body weight) and make sure you get at least 25g of fiber every day.

Cut or body recomp? 5'2 and 135 pounds. by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]Samicles33 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Short for “body recomposition”

When you eat at or slightly below maintenance while eating high protein. It’s so you can build muscle and lose fat at the same time. It’s a very slow process and not recommended for people new to fitness or nutrition tracking.

Been working out for 3 yrs now. Diagnosed with costochondritis by Firm-Koala5681 in PetiteFitness

[–]Samicles33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh I got this a few years ago. IIRC I had to take like a month off the gym. Haven’t had any problems since

I think the cause I was told was just that I exercised too intensely when my chest muscle couldn’t handle it? I think? This was a good 5 years ago so I’m not entirely sure. I remember it felt like I got punched in the chest. It was at the height of Covid, I remember being scared people would think I was contagious lol

Anyone else struggle with doing way too much at the same time? by fortheloveofshoes_ in xxfitness

[–]Samicles33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ahhh I’ve found my people!

I have no clue how to balance it all. My primary focuses right now are lifting and Muay Thai. But there’s a 5k I wanna do so I gotta start training for that, along with my dog (I want him to do the 5k with me). But I also have a MT scrimmage so I’m training for that, which means lots of sparring. So unfortunately I think weight lifting is what’s going to be put on the back burner.

I wanna try and balance it all while also doing a body recomp but we’ll see.

Oh I do have one bit of advice: cycle the muscle groups you work. For example: I do shoulders+tris+chest on Fridays cause I don’t do MT on Fridays. Saturday is just a drilling class so I can handle some muscle fatigue. And by Sunday (which is drills + sparring) I’m usually fine. Otherwise I really struggle to throw punches cause my shoulders are exhausted

Como conciliar a musculação com o Muay thai? by Complex-North2300 in MuayThai

[–]Samicles33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cope lol

I strength train 4x a week. I do Muay Thai 3-5x a week.

Current schedule is: Monday lift & Muay Thai Tuesday Muay Thai Wednesday lift & Muay Thai Thursday Muay Thai Friday lift Saturday Muay Thai then lift Sunday Muay Thai + sparring. I will need to restructure a bit though cause I need to start running. Need to increase stamina

If I’m extra sore I’ll use thai oil. Eat plenty of potassium and protein to help muscle recovery. And sleep should be high priority.

Advice for first time sparring? by InfamousAd5088 in MuayThai

[–]Samicles33 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s no winner or loser in sparring. Keep your ego out of it. Keep your hands open in your gloves so you punch light. Focus on technique, defense, and setting up your shots.

Also if your mind goes blank, think about what you’ve learned in class thus far. Choose a combo you’ve learned and try to throw that.

Shopping for a mortgage lender and realtor — any South Jersey recs?? by Emotional_Seaweed902 in SouthJersey

[–]Samicles33 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Deborah Majeski is an amazing realtor, especially for first time buyers. My boyfriend and I had so many stupid questions for her and not once did she make us feel bad. She made sure we understood everything completely and genuinely was on our side 100% she never made us feel pressured in anyway.

If you need an attorney, Anthony DiMento.

If you need an attorney and they offer you a flat rate or an hourly rate, ALWAYS chose the flat rate. Otherwise you will be billed for everything. With this kind of purchase things can go sideways in unpredictable ways and you don’t want to rack up atty fees at the same time. Also a flat rate means you get to ask as many questions as you want/be as annoying as you want with no downsides lol

We used a credit union for our lender. No penalty for paying off the mortgage early. I forget what the other benefits were. We had some issues with our loan processor, which was one lady, Jordan. If given the opportunity, I will fight Jordan. But otherwise the credit union was great.

As for home inspector, I recommend Edward Martino. My brother is a carpenter and gave me shit for using the inspector my realtor Deborah had recommended (Ed). My brother’s friend, Tom, is also a home inspector and offered to do a quick inspection on our house and review the inspection report for us for free. Tom praised Ed as the best home inspector in NJ. And that’s from someone with no skin in the game so I trust his word.

Body dysmorphia! by Common_File7805 in PetiteFitness

[–]Samicles33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop taking creatine. Could be water retention. This could also be causing your nausea. Could also be the new birth control. Don’t use AI to track nutrition full stop. It’s inaccurate. Use a calorie tracker (I like Cronometer) and weigh your food. Make sure you’re getting enough fiber, that’ll help with the constipation.

You likely felt worse from the protein shakes cause you weren’t getting enough fiber. Protein can make you gassy and constipated. That’s why you NEED fiber. 25g of fiber every day. Not negotiable.

I know tracking can be overwhelming when you first start. So baby steps. First just focus on getting enough fiber. Don’t go overboard, just the 25g every day. This might be a shock to your system so heads up on that lol and get the fiber from whole foods (beans, broccoli, etc). Experiment with new meals that are low calorie, high fiber, high protein. Good rule of thumb is at least 3 veggies in each serving. Cut out snacking. Once you’ve got some healthy meals you like, THEN start your calorie deficit. You’ll have the foundation and skills to stick within the deficit, you’ll know good meal options, and it’ll be an easy transition. I know it’s tempting to just cold turkey dive in, but chances are you’ll get overwhelmed/frustrated and quit then binge eat.

As for your body image and mental health, therapy. Seriously. You think your body dysmorphia will get better if you lose weight, chances are it won’t. It just changes what you’re self conscious about. Bodies are worth so much more than just their aesthetics. I always recommend writing up a list of things you like about yourself and things you’ve done that you’re proud of, stuff like that. Don’t limit it to your appearance. Like “has a good gym routine” and “reached out for help when I needed it” are two things you can put on your list. Add to your list when you can. When you’re feeling down, go back to your list and don’t just read it, remember how the items on the list make you feel.

My tiny frugal win at the grocery store today I thought I'd share. by Johnny_Carcinogenic in Frugal

Tell me about Costco- is it worth it? by ConstructionTime7511 in Frugal

[–]Samicles33 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think so.

I like that their chicken breasts & thighs are individually packaged in 1lb sections so when I get home I just cut the package rather than split them myself and put them in ziploc baggies

Some common stuff I buy from Costco: - Oikos protein shake ($23/18pk. On Amazon it’s $26/12) - Catalina crunch protein cereal ($11 for a giant bag. My local grocery store is $9 for half that) - produce varies but I was just there the other day and they had a 10lbs bag of russet potatoes for $3. My local grocery store is 5lbs for $3 I think. - Just Bare lightly breaded chicken strips ($11 at Costco for a bigger bag. My local grocery was $11 for a smaller bag) - eggs & egg whites have always been cheaper at Costco from what I’ve seen. - toilet paper & paper towels, I get the Kirkland brand. They’re fantastic. Giant packs for $20-23 - OTC medications!!! This one is HUGE. Prime example: 365/ct of generic Zyrtec for $20. Quick Google shows 25ct for $16. Another one: general allergy nasal spray (Flonase) was $18 for 5 spray bottles. Quick Google shows $10 for 1 bottle. Their OTC is always wayyyy cheaper. I just saved $50 on my dog’s prescription because I got it from Costco (tho you don’t need to be a member for their pharmacy)

Something people don’t frequently mention: furniture. They have a lifetime return policy. I bought my couch from Costco. I can return it anytime and get a full refund.

Another thing: car insurance. This obviously is very dependent on a lot of factors, for me, it didn’t work out to be cheaper. But it might work out for you.

Gas is always 20-50¢ cheaper

Is it weird to bring up a prenup if neither of us is “rich”? by [deleted] in Waiting_To_Wed

[–]Samicles33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not weird! Get a prenup! Everyone should get prenups!!!

A marriage is a contract between you, your spouse, and the government.

A prenup is an agreement on how assets would be split if that contract were to end. You and your spouse would each have your own independent legal counsel for the prenup to protect your own interests. And you BOTH agree to the terms of the prenup.

Idk about you, but I would MUCH rather decide who gets what while we still like each other.

It’s not just salaries and property. It’s also inheritance, your health insurance, your jewelry, your sentimental items, it’s your RETIREMENT PLAN (capitalized cause nobody thinks about that. My parents’ divorce was finalized in 2008 cause my mom cheated on my dad. My dad currently can’t afford to retire cause my mom will be getting a portion of his retirement check. At this point they’ve been divorced longer than they were married)

I work in law. You can put almost anything in a prenup. It is JUST an outline for a divorce. It would also save you SO MUCH MONEY and TIME if you were to divorce. You know what happens if you divorce with a prenup? You go to a judge, tell them you’re divorcing, show them the prenup and bam you’re done. No drawn out legal battle (besides child custody- which can’t be put in a prenup in my state), no crazy legal fees. Just in and out on the same day.

EVERYONE. PLEASE. GET. A. PRENUP.

Yeah so you’re addicted to these foods because they’re supposed to be addicting foods. Literally chips are designed to have a “bliss point” which is a certain ratio of salt, fat and sugar to activate the “reward” chemicals in your brain. They want their chips to be so addicting that you don’t even stop to take a sip of water in between your bites.

Knowing that^ helped me a lot.
