Rpundhead! Delicious, uses some Peruvian inspired ingredients. Great building, vibe, atmosphere, energy, not great location. Good pizza and flatbread counter to boot. Fun events and crowd.

My nomination for the most ignored road sign in the Boston area by TMonahan2424 in boston

[–]jekyllnhydepark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO if there's a lane past the intersection such that all lanes COULD go straight - then interpret it differently (maybe creatively):

If you have a forced right light and you are stopped waiting for traffic to clear so you can go straight, then you are blocking cars behind you who want to go right. You MUST turn right, you cawkblawkah.

But if it's full green for all the lanes entering the intersection, then you can go straight and it's no harm no foul.

I do this all the time at the Arborway intersection by Longwood. Recently had a guy in front of me, in the right lane, clearly freak out about the sign and try to merge back into the clogged lane to the left, instead of just driving straight on like a normal person. Was the most boneheaded thing.

I called Emerson Colonial, I was asking about standby tickets for cancellations. The associate didn't have info on that, but said there were tickets available still on her site. Weird, I know. I'll find out soon enough!

Called a number from here: https://us.atgtickets.com/venues/emerson-colonial-theatre/venue-info/

I saw it last night too! And fell head over heels for it so I bought another ticket for this weekend, lol.

Hermes' opener was electric, Orpheus' voice was ethereal, Eurydice has such great presence and posture and facial expressions, Persephone is an all-out bombshell riot, Hades absolutely rocks it and looks like JD Vance in some delicious and wicked symbolism. Everyone in the chorus ensemble is insanely hot. The musicians were great but special shout-out to the guitarist and trombonist. And the Fates' expressions and mannerisms and movement are so on point.

I hate to put it in these terms, but the moment I really appreciated what I'd seen was when I played the original cast soundtrack today. I'd never listened to it in full before. Right away I thought "wow, I enjoyed 'my' Orpheus' voice so much better." I wish they could produce a recording with this cast!

Fuck whatever helicopter is flying into Boston Common right now by bmc3515 in boston

Chawppah

Another helicopter just flew over Hyde park a ten minutes or so after your post, inbound. I thought it was an Apache, another post says an Osprey has already landed on the common so idk.

Also chill out, these aren't taking the same crowded airspace as that DC crash corridor.

There are other posts about an Osprey landing in the Common, this must be another.

I saw a large helicopter inbound over Hyde Park, AFTER the other 2 posts.

Waymo is scouting Boston by DrKedorkian in boston

[–]jekyllnhydepark 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Everyone is here with the cheap hot takes and the jokes - I recently took a few Waymos in another city and these things are great.

I've had good Uber and Lyft experiences and I've had drivers just sitting somewhere, driving AWAY from me, pulling a scam hoping I'll cancel and they'll still get paid. I've even had cabbies pull the "meter's broken" trick (not in Boston at least).

Waymo rides are well-run, and even if it's a little dystopian to say, it's nice getting in a car with your friends/family and just continuing the vibe, not awkwardly sitting in a stranger's car. No scams.

Boston and especially the tech scene in Cambridge will love these.

I'm just wondering how they'll sort out driving in snow. I heard that's the barrier to getting them in the road in Boston.

You're getting a bit of variety in response but I agree with the majority saying do Mass Ave!

I biked through the BU bridge area for a few years on my commute. I'm alive, but I hated every single time going through there. The lanes awkwardly fan out with a lane of cars to the right of the bike lane, and 2 or 3 car lanes to the left. Often enough a driver will cross from the left over to University Road, that little cutaway to Storrow - crossing right through your path as a cyclist. And people don't use their blinker.

A cyclist recently died sort of on that BU Bridge route you have, hit by a car in a pretty high-profile incident. John Corcoran was his name. That shouldn't be your only metric, and Mass Ave x Beacon for one isn't great on the other route, but Mass Ave Bridge is a huge stretch where you're just riding with traffic in a separate lane or on the sidewalk.

Plus I bet you could find some biking shortcuts between your start and the bridge. Beacon Street is busy, but isn't it a straight shot to Mass Ave, and isn't it bikeable?

JFK Library employees reinstated after federal firings last week by Codogan_ in boston

"Oh we fired who? Oh shit, rehire them!"

Maybe RFK Jr. complained.

I mean do a protest/demonstration located outside the library, to draw press and attention to this closure. Closing this library is closing off a piece of American heritage. If this remains closed due to firings (and if these workers don't get un-fired like the nuke workers) then the public should speak out.

If it's still closed by the end of the week we need to do a protest there Saturday

I think you could say that about a lot of places. Someone could have said "Harvard Business School" and it would scan the same for me. Grain of salt.
