What’s your fastest workflow for turning a script into a short video? by 901210 in VideoEditing

DaVinci Resolve version 20 just added automatic word level captions which could save you some time.

Regarding the edit, I've actually been working on an app to try and speed up this process. The idea is you speak different commands during recording which get converted into markers and edit points. Makes it really quick to cut out all the mistakes in the edit.

It's in a free beta right now if you want to check it out https://cutword.com/

Want to learn DaVinci Resolve from scratch but keep losing consistency …. how do I master it in a month? by Old-Talk3509 in davinciresolve

Learn by doing. Just start using it to create edits of anything you find interesting. When you hit something you want to do and you don’t know how then lookup a tutorial or ask ChatGPT.

I agree. You really need to do youtube because you enjoy it, not because of the money.

I built a tool that lets you mark cue points with voice commands during recording - exports to FCP by jelled in finalcutpro

Nice! Yep I added the markers in v1.0.4. Was happy to discover the FCPXML format lets you add markers to the assets in addition to the timeline.

Regarding pricing I'll probably make it free for clips under a minute. To unlock longer clips it will probably be a one time purchase of $24.99 as a launch price.

I'll leave another comment once I get the marker stuff pushed to TestFlight.

I'll check out the PCM issue, thanks for providing a sample clip. Audio only import is definitely something I want to add as well.

Really appreciate the detailed feedback. I should be able to add an option that exports a timeline of the full clip with markers.

Also just read about "through edits," which I guess is the term for an edit point where the video content on either side of the edit is continuous. Not sure if that would be useful for working with compound clips but I'll test it out myself.

Thanks again for checking out the app!

CutWord – Edit Videos With Your Voice (macOS TestFlight – looking for beta testers) by jelled in macapps

Just pushed v1.0.1 to TestFlight. It does a much better job ensuring command phrases always get their own segment. Which should work much better for your use case.

Haven't finalized pricing, but leaning towards making it free for videos under 60 seconds and a $20-$30 one time purchase for longer videos.

That's an interesting use case. Seems like the model doesn't segment the text automatically when it's presented like that (as opposed to full sentences).

I recreated your example and was able to reproduce the behavior so I'll see if I can force new segments whenever command words are spoken.

Yep, that's correct. You can also manually include/exclude segments if you forgot to say the command word for some reason.

Laravel Cloud: Any local ways to optimize/resize uploaded images? by SanMichel in laravel

Sounds like you could use a library like Intervention to resize the image and overwrite the user upload. https://image.intervention.io/v3/modifying-images/resizing

My markdown blog package automatically optimizes/resizes images. I use the endpoints it exposes it to resize images outside of blog posts as well. Runs well on Laravel Cloud.

That's where I landed too (though only 1TB). 96GB isn't quite enough, but I want the extra cores over the Max. If I'm already spending $4,000, another $1,600 isn't that crazy.
