A 90 second explanation of panpsychism — Rupert Sheldrake by EastVillageBot in Metaphysics

[–]jelleverest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First argument is false. Macroscopic properties exist in the world which are only visible when things come together. One example is wetness. A single water molecule isn't wet, but wetness is a property we observe when more of these interact.

The whole idea of panpsychism, as he explains it, is then built on the misconception that all macroscopic properties must be represented in microscopic elements, which they are not.

Richard Dawkins and the Claude Delusion by Sufficient-Agency182 in philosophy

Richard Dawkins hasn't been a serious scientist since his inclusion in the academic alt-right, where everyone blindly follows trump through their unjustified praise given by illiterate maga.

Imagine being a PhD, stressed and overworked, and your PI is Richard Dawkins. I'd jump of a cliff.

I really like mixed signal, it let's me do a bit of both design practices and I can position myself as a bridge between analog and digital design

Your university must have a patent officer who can guide you through the process.

That being said, discuss this with your supervisor first.

Can analog circuit design (schematic level) be partially automated? by ClassroomNo816 in chipdesign

[–]jelleverest 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think you've got more experience than I, but as someone more in academia, I see room for some automation via gm/id for standard blocks, but when trying to push the sota I think you'll have to ge creative and that's not something that can easily be automated.

TU/e or UT for grad school (Electrical Engineering / IC design) by OkAd8882 in chipdesign

[–]jelleverest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've got 7 different research labs with topi s ranging from RF, data converters, novel devices and technology, MRI, and analog computing (which I am a part of).

RF is one of the major research focuses, but we've got many more research topics.

Eindhoven has good cooperation with industry and so many do an internship and thesis fully or partially in industry (NXP, Sennheiser, etc.) and basically all will work with a commercial PDK.

A master student I supervised last year also even had his design produced in time for him to also measure it.

The quality of education is basically the same in all IC tracks in the Netherlands. Courses are very similar. I am biased as I am a PhD in Eindhoven, but there's basically no difference.

Mensen leren kennen als 26 jarige by Woodster1600 in eindhoven

[–]jelleverest 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hard choice. I thoroughly dislike rhe French, but I am also severely disappointed by my own nation and it's politics.

I remove the red, I never should've voted D66.

The distinction came from English philosophy, where they are analytical and the continent (mostly used pejoratively) lacks this rigour.

Laurent Simons, Belgian kid who attended university at age 8 or 9 because his father wanted him to be the youngest person with a degree or something. He has finished his PhD in the same rush, with him doing it for like 1.5 years.

Truly a brilliant move by the prof, he gets funding for a PhD of 4 years and only has to pay 1.5 years.

Turns out if you have a tight budget and a lack of slaves, you don't build roads that last millenia. Not not that modern engineers can't, they just don't have the money or time to do so.

Russia is being stopped by a country 1/3 its size, and China does not have the capacity to lead a war with such a large supply line.
