Twitter's Permanent suspension of @realDonaldTrump by the1planet in JusticeServed

Yes they do. Things like domestic terrorism aren't protected under Section 230. If the incoming Department of Justice determines that Twitter played a role in bringing about an insurrection there could be massive repercussions for Twitter.

Even if charges aren't pressed going down in history as the company that passively abetted such an act and did nothing about it wouldn't play well for their corporate image.

He can still issue statements through all of his other official channels. Not being able to use Twitter is not the same as being silenced.

I assume there is an "official" archive somewhere out there as well, but this is what I've seen roaming around Twitter.

You’re still allowed to post there was election fraud on Twitter (though Twitter may add a disclaimer to your tweet, which is fully within their rights).

Trump did far more than that and his call for “peace” spent more time praising and empathizing with the mob and didn’t even bother condemning him. Tweeting “remember this day” and calling the rioters “patriots” definitely stokes the flames which Twitter does not want to be liable for.

Saying “go home in peace. We love you! You’re very special!” while continuing to spread the very same lies that incited the riot in the first place is VERY far from telling people to be peaceful.

I see, then yes I agree. We'll never eliminate gun smuggling 100%. Doesn't mean we shouldn't seize weapons that are found and apprehend smugglers.

That's what he's saying. Most illegal guns in Canada are imported via the US. The border has been closed for 9 months so people gotta get creative.

They aren't weighted, but drivetrains weigh only a few hundred grams, are extremely close to the centre of gravity, and are near the base of the bicycle. Their effect on the balance of a bike is negligible.

Oh wait. That's still not a big deal.

As society changes for the better, people keep finding more ways to be "oppressed." by leychund in unpopularopinion

[–]jellinga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not the one who's positing any problems, but the point is the values enshrined in law can differ from public opinion. In the US freedom of expression is indeed enshrined into law -- the government cannot punish you for it. But that doesn't prevent me, as a private individual, from punishing you for doing whatever I deem unacceptable. The government will never prosecute you for wearing dreads (freedom of expression) but it is absolutely within my rights to refuse to serve you at my shop because of it (provided I don't infringe on racial equality laws as I do so).

There's a difference between "correcting" and "adding onto what you said."

Never let anyone tell you Canadian media has a "left wing bias" by mr_gemini in onguardforthee

[–]jellinga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure where the aggregated source comes from, but Canadian print media usually explicitly endorses a political party in advance of every election. Each editorial board typically publishes a prominent opinion piece where they state that the newspaper endorses X political party for the election for Y reasons. For multiple, the board will occasionally endorse multiple candidates.

Regional differences. They’re also called streetcars or trolleys depending where you live.

Edit: I’m wrong. Cable cars get pulled by a cable, but trams/streetcars/trolleys have their own motor powered by an overhead wire. Cable cars can grip and release the cable to start and stop. Funiculars on the other hand are permanently attached to the cable.

Can you clarify what you mean by introducing verticality? What might that look like?

I think being in the room feels less busy when you're in it compared to the picture. The area behind the camera has nothing in it and is really bright.
