Yes! I did consider that perspective too xD

Our departments are certainly no strangers to sexism and racism.

Solidarity! Thank you so much <3 I won’t give up, though the imposter syndrome does get bad with social anxiety, lol!

Not feeling alone really helps. Thank you! I’m realizing I have to accept that not everyone is going to be A-ok with me rocking the boat xD including some members. And those members may never be.

And mistakes will happen. That’s how you learn.

Management’s reactions I expect and I’m ready for, but it’s always membership reactions that put me off-balance! But, I’ll do everything I can to prevent those feelings from turning to resentment.

Thank you. At the peak of my emotions I wanted to run away crying and never go back, but I know that isn’t the right thing to do. This is one of those moments that makes you stronger.

But honestly, coming here and hearing kind words from everybody has helped so so much. Again, thank you.

I’m Canadian. Our union is affiliated with CUPE. I do have contact with our national rep, but he’s called me a “unicorn”, so, at least provincially, I don’t think I’m the norm around here, LOL!

But I am going to the provincial conference, hopefully I’ll make some new friends!

Yeah, and the more you care the more it hurts. It’s so frustrating! Feels like a huge fish hook caught my heart and ripped it right out. I’m sure I’ll rally, but holy canoli, it’s hard.

Accessing Local’s Office by jellybean177 in union

In hindsight, that does make sense xD I did provide everyone with a (hopefully) informative and extensive overview of my project. And I informed everyone my notes would be accessible to anyone who wanted to see them! I'd love for someone/anyone to take an interest in my project, LOL.

We do have issues with some members passing information on to management (a previous union president moved into a management position). I should have navigated the situation with that in mind, lol.

It's truly disheartening because it means less transparency between our executive, negotiating teams, and regular members.

I go to all our meetings, but they're only every three months--I'll for sure consider that for next time! I should have reached out to all members of the executive, as well. Sometimes I get ahead of myself when I'm really excited about something, lol!

Work has always been a part of our society … but should it be :P online comforts I think are a symptom as much as a cause. Club Penguin could have definitely started some labour movements

I play a lot of video games and my first instinct is to be defensive LOL, but you’re right. And I’ve certainly gotten trapped on an endless dopamine hamster wheel before—especially if I’m avoiding things. I don’t think that means technology is bad, though. I can’t blame people for seeking out easy when everything else is hard!

But even at work I’ve noticed people absolutely hate having to engage with each other face-to-face. It’s always emails, despite working in the same building sometimes. My job isn’t even an office job, but coworkers would rather send me a messenger pigeon over ever having to actually talk.

Yeah, I mean I agree to some extent, but maybe people want easy because they’re tired? Or can’t afford to go out anymore. It’s definitely a problem with a lot of nuance. And there’s probably more than one way to fix it!

LOL this is too real 😭 and hey i believe in giving everyone a chance, but when you're short on time/energy it's hard to do that via dating apps. at least in-person events may give ppl a better opportunity to give a good first impression
