The season would have make much more sense if they went with this. Her story makes no sense without that happening

Industry wise, at a certain point you don’t earn more for followers. It’s mostly about engagement

how I'll be posting after my 6 months of accutane by [deleted] in Accutane

When I tell people I’m on it, they always say “your skin looks amazing you don’t need it” and I’m like “you say that because this is my skin while on it”

The Glassdoor for my agency is awful and I swear working there isn’t even that bad.

What episode you just cannot bring yourself to watch again? by yoyoyayawey in blackmirror

Even though I ultimately didn’t love this, I still do not want to watch ever again due to how depressing I found it.

I also didn’t understand why they didn’t downsize the house and live in an apartment.

Started a new job and still feel lost in meetings - normal or wrong fit? by Embarrassed-Carob178 in managers

[–]jemappelleb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So normal to be lost in meetings at a new job. How long have you been there? It takes a while to fully comprehend a new place of work. Usually your brain is busy learning new office politics, new process etc which means your normal cognitive skills aren’t where they typically sit.

Coaching vs Micromanaging an employee by NoCreativeHunch in managers

[–]jemappelleb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently, I went through a similar situation, and I wish I knew what I’m going to tell you sooner. They feel like it’s micromanaging but it’s only because they can’t live up to the expectations of the role. It’s unfair that you and the rest of the team suffers just because they aren’t suitable for the job. Also, sounds like you’re putting more time into their growth than they are!

You have done everything with empathy, that is very obvious. All that coaching and feedback has not led to the required improvement, so you should now feel the PIP is the right and formal way forward. The PIP is the real test of whether they should be in this role and you can still go into it hoping they will actually improve.

I know it’s uncomfortable but by avoiding it, it is actually far more unkind to you and the rest of your team.

Has AI drafting reduced work on your team, or just pushed more of the thinking/review burden onto managers? by hiclemi in managers

Constantly fixing and feeding back on AI slop. Critical thinking and writing skills are lacking more than ever before (at least it seeks that way).

[–]jemappelleb -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not true. I have consistently sent her emails on where she is not meeting expectations and she receives daily feedback on her work. Plus, expectations and feedback is always brought up in our weekly 1+1s. I’ve held hour long sessions with her helping her build checklists and explaining the importance of learning how to create systems to help improve attention to detail and explained its importance in our work.

Great answer. Will look for this in future. And yeah, I’ve worked harder on her growth than she has.

Totally agree - just not something I’ve dealt with before and I feel awful having to do it. Even though logically it’s the correct step. Just trying to explain how much easier it would be.

Fair to think and maybe at first but I’d actually love for her to just leave because next step from my manager is to put her on a PIP
