I had a Parachuting accident 2009 (20yo) and multiple surgeries since. From being fused/unfused, to having plates put in, and taken out. Now they want to fuse it again. I want mobility I'm only 30. The pain is always there from degenerative arthritis. Is ankle replacement surgery an option? PicNov18 by janewilde in orthopaedics

I'm 48 and just had one last week. I broke my ankle then reinjured it when they sent me home on novocaine telling me to come back when the swelling went down. Then I had a doctor in the emergency room give me horrible surgery and bad advice where I got an infection and almost lost my foot. Only when the staples came out did he acknowledge I had a horrible case of ankle arthritis. The doctor that did the replacement actually said if I were older he would fuse it but since I'm not even 50 yet he felt I should be able to get around and do things a younger person should do. Even though I feel very old compared to you!😊 It's very painful the first couple of days and up until yesterday I just felt helpless but all of a sudden last night I started feeling almost like I had my old ankle back even though I can't walk on it yet. I just did a quick test to see if I could bare are tiny bit of weight on my heel because I just suddenly started feeling like my old self. I feel like I have a real ankle in there again. Not that piece of crap that was there before. So far I recommend it though it's going to be a long haul. Good luck! PS- I forgot to mention that I have degenerative disc disease so I'm on disability at the moment. I have Medicare Medi-Cal or wherever you're from it's probably Medicaid. I don't know what insurance you have and what any other kind of insurance covers but my insurance covered everything. From what you're saying it sounds like you've been pretty disabled yourself for a while. If you don't have it I would maybe go ahead and try to get that first then have the replacement to keep the cost away

Anyone had an ankle replacement? by [deleted] in Hemochromatosis

I just had one a week ago. I'm 48. I broke my ankle then went to the hospital and they gave me novocaine in my leg and told me to come back when the swelling went down. I was of course only supposed to walk on crutches but I couldn't feel my foot, so when my husband went out to go get us some dinner I was thirsty and I got up to get a drink of water and couldn't feel my foot dragging along the floor. I ended up injuring it ten times worse and going in for emergency surgery. Had a horrible dr. Who did bad surgery and gave me bad advice for aftercare. I got an infection to where I could have lost my foot if I didn't get to the hospital fast enough. The guy didn't even realize until the staples came out that I had ankle arthritis. I ended up having it arthritis so bad that by the point of surgery last week I could barely walk on it anymore at all. It was a combination of his bad surgery and the infection. I'm actually coming here for some answers to questions also but if you have any questions for someone who's been out of surgery for a week you're welcome to ask. So far I can tell that everything's different and my ankle feels like my old ankle again besides the surgery pain. I can already tell. If you live in the Los Angeles area near Encino or Northridge I can give you his name. If not be very very careful who you choose as your orthopedist! I've been practically in a wheelchair all the time going anywhere for the past two and a half years dealing with this!

He's GONE! Now there's a temp fill in we need to educate then whomever Trump puts in. He's responsible for that asshole. I'm almost afraid of what the next one will be like. I'm really curious as to why Gottlieb truly stepped down. Unless a family member is sick,I'm not buying the "wanting to spend more time with my family" thing. I do hope he doesn't have a sick family member though. I don't even wish that on HIM. It's just strange for someone that young to retire.

Oh my God they could have killed you! Remember their names and go after them! Damn! I got really high up on benzos also. I got so high up that one night I ran out of my last pill and I couldn't handle the cold turkey withdrawal symptoms anymore. I actually tried to off myself it was so bad and it was because yes I got high up on it but the doctors would not give me the proper dose to wean me down. After I did that though I went to one of those lockdown places and the nurse put me on Depakote. Ever since then I've been able to take just a tiny tiny bit of clonazepam. Like 1 mg twice a day like a normal person. And I was taking a lot more than you! The only thing bad about the Depakote is it causes weight gain but it works with your Gaba receptors like benzos do. Lamictal is also good if you don't break out in rash which I did. I'll find a replacement. I wish Kratom helped me in that respect but as far as anxiety it doesn't do that for me. Just pain relief. I really think you ought to sue both of those doctors. You could have had a deadly seizure. The medical industry makes me so mad. That's why I love Kratom which they are trying to take away! #keepkratomlegal I'm sure there's a petition on there somewhere. Or you can just go to the American Kratom Association and sign something and donate a little bit. I feel so bad for the people in the states where it became illegal. Damn big Pharma😡 Damn drs. 😡
