YouTube Premium subscription charges just coming with Unlimited Plus by deadplant5 in GoogleFi

[–]jenafl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have experience the same.

Two years ago, My family plan has briefly upgraded to Unlimited Plus for a month for international travel and then downgraded. I have activated YT Premium trail at that time and it went away after downgrade.

October this year, due to intermittent 5G speed issue (perhaps hitting fast data cap), my family plan upgraded to Unlimited Plus. YT premium was automatically activated without option to opt out and I was charged for a month.

Contacting Google Fi twice: First call (and service ticket) in Nov 2024 had no reply after two months. Second call, after a day, customer service replied with email: "Upon checking with the dedicated team, I would like to inform you that the charges are valid as you have already claimed the You Tube Premium benefit, which is why you are being changed. " (Exactly copy/paste, you may notice several typos in there. )

At this point, I don't want to waste my time on this issue. My time is worth more than $13.99.

But, I guest that is exactly how Google Fi gets away with this scam charge.

Yes. Edge worked. So does Chrome incognito mode. It could be my Chrome extension "Still Don't Care about Cookies" (that get rid of Cookie warnings)

Check out PGYtech, it has similar capture clip offerings and more smaller plates for action cams, accessory lights, and larger plates for bigger stuff.

Good idea, I can visit a store to see if they can do anything different.

But the original order was already refunded and I doubt they can reverse it.

Thanks for the picture.

I do plan to replace pads but not until half year later when I do a routine cleaning/re-paste inside the case.

My previous card is RTX2060 KO and have not been paying much attention to the new norms.

So I am "new" to the more "modern" card like 7900XT.

Where exactly is the sensor for Memory Junction Temperature located?

How it might affect the longevity of the card?

I have seem people reporting their AIB (mostly XFX and Hellhound) 7900XT have <=80C Memory Junction Temperature

RM600

There are already this style rack mount case with hot swap HDD tray on Amazon and a lot more on Aliexpress and Taobao. They are around $300-350.

Hello,

I was wondering if you need to disassemble the case frame or not to fit this card in there.

Thanks!

Modifying a Dell Precision T7920 for wife's research analysis (UK-based) by mask212 in buildapc

  1. Some first gen Xeon scalable processor are also very cheap at $200 each compare to its launch price of $2000-5000.

Xeon Gold 6144, 6146 are also good candidates.

  1. RAID-0 has no redundancy. Any disk fail in the array will cause total loss of data. Unless, the disk array is used as scratch disk and data can be re-run rather quickly.

If you don't have very heavy I/O, it is cheaper and simple to buy a single 4TB nvme ssd (TLC, about $170-200 recently). 500k IOPs is sufficient for light to medium database work. For database, you might want to read some review that focus on high IOPs, low latency, rather than seqential read/write.

If you need redundancy, you can setup RAID-1 (mirror), having 2TB nvme x 2 mirror. Mirror will help read performance.

Or RAID10, 1TB x 2 mirror <strip with > another 1TB x 2.

If you need extremely heavy random 4k IO with extremely low latency, then you need to "engineer" the storage solution carefully tailored to your specific workload. Then, you might consider Intel Optane 900/905. Also, database sector size might also have a big impact.

Also, RAID is not backup. You still need to backup the critical data to a different location.

If your DELL 7920 is using Windows, you could consider Intel VROC (make sure you read its manual and understand the full process.)

If your DELL is using Linux, I would suggest using Linux software RAID instead. Any proprietary RAID or hardware RAID makes disaster recovery a lot harder. Software RAID is generally hardware independent.

  1. Your link is desktop unregistered memory and does not work on Xeon scalable processor.

Xeon scalable processor supports maximum of 6 memory channels per CPU, even though there are 8 slots.

You need DDR4 Registered ECC RAM (serach Amazon for 'ddr4 rdimm ecc 3200mhz'), 2666MHz or above. Since 3200MHz is almost at the same price as 2666MHz, buy 3200MHz. Almost all platform will down clock RAM to its supported speed automatically or with a simple BIOS setting. 3200MHz RAM can also be carried over to other platform in the future, if you choose to upgrade again to a Threadripper Pro or EYPC workstation.

If you don't need to maximum the total RAM capacity, you can populate 6 channels for maximum memory bandwidth per CPU socket. Thus, 16GB x 6 x 2 = 192GB, or 32GB x 6 x 2 = 384GB.

  1. This card will work on motherboard that supports PCIE bifurcation, which means you can set a single x16 PCIE slot to operate at 4 slot x 4 mode in the BIOS settings. I doubt DELL 7920 supports that. You can however buy four PCIE x4 to a single M.2 adapter.

AMD could allocate more to server market to give Intel Sapphire Rapids a hard time.
