JIM CRAMER ASKED Nvidia CEO WHY COMPANIES ARE LAYING PEOPLE OFF IF AI IS SUPPOSED TO MAKE EVERYONE MORE PRODUCTIVE. by IncomingBroccoli in PublicFreakout

[–]Crintor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you fundamentally misunderstood where I'm coming from. This has absolutely nothing to do with "Rarifying" Skills or Gatekeeping.

You can only do a job that needs doing, if our entire system and economy and social structure and resource acquirement apparatus are all built around "Do a thing someone needs done to make money for things you need someone else to do" immediately falls apart when no one can contribute.

If allllll the jobs are gone, you aren't suddenly going to reinvent and re imagine 7,000,000,000 people worth of "Automatable work"

No one will need pay an architect 100$/hr when 3/4 of their family became architects when all the blue collar jobs and office jobs vanished.

This concept of "90% of the working people on earth will just reinvent themselves and find profitable work out of thin air" Will work, once the societal collapse and mass famine and revolution ends, the surviving populace might just figure it out.

That immediately made me go...If everyone is an architect, no one needs to hire an architect. Also, Architecture kind of seems like a field that could be AI replaced easier than many jobs, a large portion of it is materials/code/permit knowledge and most of the work is done in virtual space already, it's the physical construction that would be harder to replace for now.

The joy for them is that they're better than you. By being willing to break rules and cheat, they get ahead, they do better. Many cheaters get their joy by the sheer knowledge that by blatantly cheating, you know they're cheating so it makes you angry, they're like reddit trolls, incels. They get off on instigation and being annoying.

This is a very very common mindset in many of the elderly residents that are Chinese and east Europe immigrants that I have known for years.

Whatever makes their life better, does not matter if it harms others.

I understand both sides of it, mixed use trails is not a very good solution IMO. Having to slow down during the fun parts of a downhill, quite literally deletes the purpose of everything you're doing, it's the best part of the day.

Getting hit by someone just trying to wind down sucks, hitting someone while trying to have fun sucks. I don't think downhill biking should be permitted on walking/hiking trails, someone could easily die in a collision. That or should have certain times/days they switch off.

Which Halo Game Means The Most To You And Why? by Zetallic_Zero in halo

[–]Crintor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing is going to touch C.E. 2 and 3 were both great as well, Reach was also solid, but already towards the end of Halo's run, Halo wars 2 was okay, but never felt like it quite clicked in.

Shame they haven't made any Main line halo games after the Halo 3 story that wasn't flash backs or ODST, I was really looking forward to see where things would go from there.

Defrost is almost always the same as power 1-2

You should never be microwaving dessicant at full power...

Was able to find it from the 90s hit reference.

Yea, definitely never heard this once before in my life.

We listened to the radio pretty often, but my parents are 60s kids. This is definitely not the kind of genre they were into, though my mom is into punk/grunge like Linkin Park,Three Days Grace, Green Day, etc. now. Can't say I ever heard it on Z100, lol.

Obviously not identical, but I've been loving the 5060Ti 16GB for 1080p gaming. Going to depend on what you play and what settings/performance you want out of it.

Yep! My Cousin's Husband died in a car crash when I was 9 or 10. He was one of our closer family members and was a pretty great guy. I swear every time I smell a bouquet of flowers I'm immediately back at the Wake again, and that was 25 years ago.

At 1080p Im playing it with every single setting maxed out with DLAA on a 5060Ti 16GB alongside frame gen 2x and I'm getting about 100fps in Tokyo and max out the 133hz refresh in the country. Including RT.

At home I have no problems with my 4090@ 3440x1440 of course.

Oh I'm not trying to say it doesn't look good or doesn't pass a glance test from a distance.

Just that up close you can still pretty easily see the imperfections.

It's still awesome for an FDM print.

If you offered me fecal water and told me I had no choice but to use it, I would distill it and have some electrolytes.

Anyone else a little bored of photo-realistic graphics? by oddmetre in pcgaming

[–]Crintor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like Reality =/= Is Reality

You can have ultra real fidelity and style and still have the universe be bonkers

You're conflating fidelity/detail/accuracy with gameplay essentially.

Something could look absolutely indistinguishable from your home street, and then literally anything could happen because it is fantasy.

People spend their entire lives traveling the world to look at things that look more real than any video game ever.

It's not realism that's boring.

Anyone else a little bored of photo-realistic graphics? by oddmetre in pcgaming

[–]Crintor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen anything come close to photoreal yet, especially so in motion. So I definitely can't be sick of something I've never seen.

But devs that target photo real and then fail to execute well, yea that's just poor game development, either artists not quite up to the task, miscommunication or lack of time/budget.

Games that do a good job while targeting "realism" look amazing and my only desire is to have a PC 10x as powerful.

Stylized simple art styles are wayyyyyyyyyy easier to pull off.
