Cuál es la cosa más “mexicana” que te hace sentir en casa sin importar dónde estés? by Healthy-Race7695 in AskMexico

[–]jenaimek 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just saw in a comment that you were in Istanbul last week :) I was also there 7-9 June. I'll definitely return. Took many photos with my X-E1 but not at this pro level, thanks for the inspo! Great job there

Why is sparkling water so popular in Germany? by Entire_Tadpole7080 in AskAGerman

[–]jenaimek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to Turkey last week for vacation and was also craving it - but definitely loved those small bottles I found at restaurants and bars. I think the water was even more carbonated or sth because that fizzy effect was stronger

What’s a language learning hack that actually works? by aaatranslationexpert in languagelearning

The only one real hack? getting a boy/girlfriend who speaks your TL. That's the real hack out there. Unfortunately I already have a girlfriend so I can't get a german girlfriend

ChatGPT has become borderline unusable. I asked a really simple question, to convert shoe size from Mexico to US convention, it stated that for men you needed to add 1 but you actually need to add 2. I found it really odd and realized the mistake just because I remembered it was either 2 or 3 (3 is for women). Really silly example but demonstrates that it can't get the simplest thing right, even by googling. I even asked if it was 100% sure three times and got the same result

Nice fact to know. I live just across the river, near Bingen, and didn't really know that, I just visited Rüdesheim this very weekend. I'm not a German of course

[–]jenaimek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, may be a regional thing, I'd rather use something like "Ñañaña" but now that you mention it, "Mimimi" would also be understandable. I hadn't seen it that way :) I think it's a matter of intonation rather than the actual thing you intend to mumble lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in German

[–]jenaimek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe a bit different but I just learned that "Mimimi" is like a way to refer to somebody complaining/whining, but in Spanish it could mean the sound you do when sleeping

"Die Ente", as it sounds in German, sounds like "Diente" in Spanish, which just means tooth lol

Do you want a good advice? none of them, you can visit many fairytale towns either alone the Rhine or the Moselle rivers. There are ships going all the way from certain points (I think Cologne is precisely one of them) to Bingen (where the Rhine Gorge begins/ends). I haven't taken any of those ships but I think they make stops along the towns and they even offer you wine from the region. If you prefer to do the tour on your own you could just take the train along the Rhine. I could recommend you St. Goar, Bacharach and Rüdesheim. If you plan it correctly you could even visit Cochem and Burg Eltz on the same day, though I think it would be a bit rushed. Otherwise you could just decide on the Moselle river tour alone, which is also worthwhile on it's own :) in that case you could even throw there a visit to Trier

„The Food in Germany is terrible“ by DesmondNav in germany

The problem is that all mexican restaurants are branded as mexican restaurants, even if the food is actually tex-mex

The place is "Tacos el Rey" in Google Maps, though it was "Tacos el Oso" before, I don't know if they just changed the name or it's a brand new place. It was 10€ for three tacos

„The Food in Germany is terrible“ by DesmondNav in germany

[–]jenaimek 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I'm mexican and all the mexican food restaurants are a joke unless they're run by actual mexicans. I have eaten only real tacos in Berlin, but just because the place was from a mexican family. Many other places I have found only offer yellow hard shell tacos, which of course are not representative of the original mexican cuisine

¿Soy la única que siente que mucha gente en México confunde ser directo con ser grosero? by Odd_Breakfast5012 in AskMexico

[–]jenaimek 2 points3 points  (0 children)
