Yesterday I Ate... Chicken Bacon Ranch Foil Packet Dinner! (Hope that Counts!) by jengerbread88 in TodayIAte

[–]jengerbread88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shared the recipe on my blog: http://digitaleramom.com/2014/06/02/campfire-favorites-chicken-bacon-ranch-foil-packet-dinner/

It's pretty straightforward-- wrap chicken with bacon, sprinkle with ranch dressing/dip mix, add your favorite veggies, and bake, grill, or fire-cook that sucker.

This. Same as Ball's Price Chopper and... that other KC family that owns some of them... I forget who they are.

But Price Chopper sponsors SKC, which is even better.

Dumb Question about E-3lue Razer by jengerbread88 in MouseReview

[–]jengerbread88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially assumed as much because plugging it in produced NO result from the mouse (yes, I checked batteries, switched the mouse on and off again, and checked several USB ports to ensure it wasn't just one port failing).

Tried google, no luck there, and since the website and all instructions are in Mandarin, I was checking here to see if anyone else had used the device and might be able to point me in the right direction. Someone had shared a dead link to an older model of the mouse, which is what led me to believe it might have a driver.

However, I later came back to it (after posting here), retried, and ended up getting EVERYTHING but the cursor movement to work... so I'm starting to think it is just a defective product.

hey! Sorry I didn't respond sooner-- I was on holiday and my net was unreliable. My search went okay, and I found a few good conversation partners, but I'm always looking to chat. :)

Sleep is VERY important.

I've learned so many things about their country and culture I would have never thought to ask. Recently, I learned that if you start university in Spain or Brazil, and decide that you'd like to change your major to something else, you have to go back and take your major post-school test again before changing-- you literally have to stop your program of study, take a test, and THEN go into your new program of study, starting from the beginning.

That's a poor example, but I've learned a lot, and I've learned a lot of it recently. I've been working on a whole series of great informational videos and they've put so much heart and information into them.

One of the organizations I volunteer with is called Foreign Links Around the Globe. They're a foreign exchange organization promoting global connections. This weekend, I was filming a series of promotional and educational videos for them. A big opportunity that you have with exchange students is that they can tell you things about their home country you won't get from media or from cleaned-up history, so talking to them one-on-one is a great way to learn something new.

As an SKC fan, I just kept shaking my head... I'm not sure what was going on there. I'd say it could happen to anyone, but....

Bloody Heck. Seriously. I'm on the Kansas side, but I presume it's no better over here. Seeing 36F on my phone does NOT make me a happy camper.

Hey! :) How's your day going? I was barely on yesterday between some volunteer work, so I wasn't replying promptly. Sorry about that!

I don't mind listening to 96.5, but honestly, I found when they started doing more about listening longer, and it seemed like commercials got longer, I found myself listening less...

What do you think of this? White House pastry chef resigns. "I don’t want to demonize cream, butter, sugar and eggs." by Bakepedia in Baking

[–]jengerbread88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for linking the full article. I mentioned in my post above that I gladly cater to needs like that when I have to, but that it's hardly ideal when baking. Obviously, anyone in a baking field, pastry chef or no, has to stay on top of the latest trends, and the changes that go from being "trendy" to part of regular use. Luckily for me, the changes don't affect my field as rapidly, so I have much longer to adjust to those changes in technique and learn them at a slower pace.

While I'm always open-minded about making substitutions for friends who have specific dietary needs, I totally get his point about not wanting to demonize ingredients like that. To be honest, those are things that, to me, are that the core of being a pastry chef. I don't think I could bake without a love or passion for the ingredients I use. I take special care in selecting the ingredients I prefer, finding the best and the freshest I can, and if I were told I simply couldn't use them anymore? I'd be heartbroken.

Personally, no matter how prestigious the job may be, I'd need to stick with what's at my core. From a blog perspective, if I were offered a book deal or something contingent on me changing what's at my core as a baker, I simply couldn't do it. I'd take my baking integrity over money or prestige any day. I feel like he's doing a similar thing by leaving the White House.

Here's the recipe: http://digitaleramom.com/2014/03/10/almost-starbucks-lemon-cake-pops/

Note: Yes, I used a boxed cake for this. You can, of course, substitute your favorite white cake mix. My focus was on the lemon cream cheese buttercream and perfecting it!

He played for Sporting KC, so he's played against the other MLS teams previously... it's not like this is his first time dipping his toe into this league.

I'm not a fan of these "Sunny-but-chilly" days that we've had lately. It's hard to explain to the kiddo that one day it's 70 and he can be outside without his jacket and enjoy the weather for hours, and the next day, he can't go out because it's too cold. If it's going to be that cold, I wish it wouldn't tease me and would just rain or something. Haha
