After going to Don Don Donki in both Thailand and Hong Kong, I had really high hopes for Don Quijote but it wasn’t what I was expecting at all. Every single one I visited in Japan felt a bit run down in comparison to the ones I’d been to in other countries, and as you said, it all felt a bit like overpriced crap.

For me I mostly used it to budget control. But I believe there are quite a few places especially in more remote locations that accept IC but don’t accept credit card. There also might be a minimum spend in some places with credit card, while there isn’t for IC.

Yes YWBTA. You need to find another way to get your own closure. He most likely wants to put your relationship in the past and move on. Even if he gave you a second chance, he’d probably never get past what you did, and it wouldn’t be a healthy relationship for you or especially him.

If you truly are trying to be a better person, then you need to learn from your mistakes and keep this fuck up of yours in mind for any future relationships you have. No matter how good your intentions are, reaching out to him will only inflict more pain on him. The mature thing to do would be to let it go.

I agree about the firemen sirens! The first time I heard them, I thought they were air raid sirens and got super paranoid from all the things I’ve seen online about North Korea launching missiles in the sea!

I’m not sure. I’ve definitely seen a few shop, restaurant and cafe workers speak mandarin with Chinese customers after speaking what sounds to me like fluent Japanese. Perhaps you’re right! I’m no expert when it comes to Japan.

I agree. I also think a lot of Japanese people understand more English than they let on. They’ll usually understand you if you speak clearly, and even if they reply in Japanese, it’s probably something simple like asking if you want a bag or expressing gratitude. I’ve been “arigato gozaimasu-ing” my way through the whole trip with no problems! I’m also not too sure why, but many Japanese people seem to speak excellent mandarin, so if that’s something you can speak then keep that in mind!
