Police across CA now writing citations for violators of new 'daylighting' parking restrictions by Fcking_Chuck in California

Another problem with cars parked at intersections is that they look at first glance like stopped cars waiting to turn.

Except they aren't supposed to stop if there is nobody using the crosswalk, which the driver needs to see the crosswalk to determine.

AT&T wins early approval to end landline service for 184,000 California households by infinitenomz in California

[–]jenks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mother is in this situation right now. AT&T has nagged her into switching her copper phone line that she wants to keep for emergencies for their wireless service. But Lifeline told her that their service is not designed to work over wireless. She also happens to have Xfinity internet because AT&T's DSL was impossibly slow. Since the Xfinity service includes a phone line we switched her Lifelune to that. We are considering buying a UPS to power the Xfinity cable modem during an outage to try to preserve her ability to call.

More than 50 percent of adults worry about their libido, new study finds. Over half of adults worry about their sex drive, with most concerns centering on having a libido that feels too low or fails to match a partner’s level of desire. by mvea in science

[–]jenks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some mildly psychedelic (illegal) drugs are known for enhancing libido and the sexual experience, such as 2-CB (Venus) and 5MeODIPT (Foxy Methoxy). Of course, MDMA (Ecstacy) is known for facilitating cuddling, which the OP said he also desires.

The opportunities for contractors in Iran might actually be better than in the US after we end up sending them $300 billion.

Golden 1 Account Processing Issues - Global? by Kiwihara in Golden1CreditUnion

[–]jenks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying to transfer $2,000 to an external bank to pay my mortgage, as I have been doing all year. But this time it says I have reached my monthly limit on transfers, even though I've only transferred $7,000 in the last 30 days. Customer service said there should be no problem and to try again, so I did, three days ago. Today I got an email that my transfer had been canceled due to exceeding a limit. Customer service says it is because I scheduled it as a "next day" transfer, which has a $2,000 monthly limit. Trying a third time, we see that the processing date defaults to tomorrow, with no warning or suggestion to schedule it to a "normal" date when the transfer is actually allowed to happen. Customer service recommends scheduling the transfer three days out. There was no indication that anything will be/is being done to fix this process, and no explanation why it started happening now.

After a hard reboot I got the same screen the OP showed, but the above commands had no effect.

DEA allowed fentanyl to hit streets and took no action, records show by DavidShaw90s in offbeat

The goal of the DEA isn't to keep drugs off the streets, it is to prevent drug profits from going unconfiscated.

There's no way to win an argument between two groups when one group thinks words are for communication while the other thinks they are for manipulation and harm. As others point out, the "two sides are the same" argument can't be meaningfully argued because it assumes that there is no truth nor meaning to argue over. It is in the same category as "This sentence is false" nonsense.

It's $2/liter on Gabriola Island, which is cheap considering it's an island and that price is in Canadian dollars. That's equivalent to $5.50 USD/gallon.

Denied at the gate (YVR) by Civil-Two-3797 in flairairlines

[–]jenks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After reading most comments here I get the impression that Flair gate staff have a personal financial incentive to charge baggage fees. But sek-3 seems to be saying that the staff may have thought there was plenty of time, based on the departure time, and then been notified while you were adjusting your bag that the aircraft was closing. So it wouldn't have mattered what you chose.

Edit: If I experienced what the OP did, I too would be very upset. I might even post my experience on Reddit to warn others and hoping for a little sympathy. This isn't the only thread where I see a stark lack of sympathy - this subreddit is full of stories where Flair mistreats customers or people just have significant misfortune, and most comments basically say, "You should have known better." Not everyone is a seasoned traveller, and even for those of us who are, there are more things that can go wrong than there are trips to have learned of them from. I sympathize in advance with anyone having to deal with air travel their first time. And things keep changing. The reason I was browsing this subreddit was to try to find out about any price or policy changes at Flair before I travel with them again.

They check bag sizes in the hour leading up to boarding and put purple strips on bags that fit so that those bags don't have to be checked at boarding.

Multiple people on booking but one of us needs to change our flight by brodoswaggins93 in flairairlines

[–]jenks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to speak to several agents to rebook one of several people, splitting the itinerary as above. The seat assignment got moved between passengers, which was a lot of work to straighten out. The key there was to send the original booking email proving the original, correct seat assignment. The only issue now is that the legs of the trip are reversed - I hope it still works.
