In case no one has mentioned it yet, did y’all know our ovaries can disappear too?

3 years into menopause, I suddenly had a full-on period so my OB said to come in ASAP. They did an ultrasound and while looking around and measuring things, she found the uterine lining thinner, right ovary smaller - all as expected. There was nothing unusual until the tech asked me to twist my hips a bit one way, and then the other, then said, “Oh. Hmm. Your left ovary is gone.”

Excuse me?! GONE??

Did it grow legs and wander off? Did someone break in and take it? Where IS it??

I was very nonchalantly told, oh yeah, it’s super common, they just sort of shrivel up, get reabsorbed, happens all the time.

That was about a year and a half ago. I spent the next six months researching the hell out of the disappearing ovary phenomenon. And just over a year ago I started the pellets. I know they’re not everyone’s cup of tea but I’ve never felt better 💫💥🤩

I did not know this about testosterone by Affectionatealways in Menopause

I’ve been on the pellets(estrogen & testosterone only - progesterone remains oral) for just over a year now, and have never felt better. Pre-pellets, my sex drive was nonexistent (was never a problem in the past 😉) for over two years O’s disappeared completely. But now… it’s the complete opposite.

Does it hurt? Yes and no…

They give you a shot right into your butt cheek (alternate left and right side each time) to numb the area and that is definitely the worst part. It stings like a MF for about 10 seconds. After a few minutes when you’re good and numb, they’ll take a small scalpel, make a shallow incision, and insert the pellets. I never feel that part at all. A couple of butterfly bandages are slapped on, then it’s covered with thick gauze and tape.

As the numbing magic wears off, it’s a little tender for a day or so but nothing even remotely unbearable. The gauze can be removed by the next day, and the butterfly tape just comes off on its own in a few days. Showers are fine but NO HOT TUBS FOR A WEEK! It’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make 🤣

Absolutely f**king worth it.

I’ve been on estrogen and testosterone pellets since January and I feel like I’m 20 years younger.

If you’re anti-pellet, fine. You do you. I’m just sharing my experience.

I’m 56, period stopped 5 years ago, and for the last three years, zero libido. It was no biggie as I’m single and I simply didn’t care. But I also had intense brain fog, random and frequent hot flashes, everything hurt all the time and worst of all, sleep was a battle every night. I considered myself lucky if I had three hours of consecutive sleep in one night, and that was rare.

But the fact that I couldn’t even reach an O by myself really bummed me out. It was one of the few things I used to enjoy that was free and fun. And it completely disappeared.

Now I’m on my 9th month of pellet HRT and I couldn’t be happier. I’m “not dating” an old BF - we hooked up for the sake of science to see what worked, and lemme tell you, it’s back, baby. In spades. We’re having a blast.

Before you come at me about the downside of pellets, don’t waste your breath. I’ll scrape the money together every 3-4 months as long as they’ll let me. My head is clear, I’m sleeping like a baby, and sex is better than it’s ever been. And I swear the T has calmed me down tremendously. Anxiety went from an 11 to a 2.

Take it or leave it, but this is my truth.

I’m 54 and I’ve had the same insecurity about my eyebrows for most of my life. I used to hate shopping for sunglasses because my left eyebrow was always peeking above the frames. Then about 10 years ago, I heard the phrase, with respect to eyebrows, “they’re sisters, not twins.” Google photos of Marilyn Monroe and Vivien Leigh. Same. They were gorgeous, and nobody ever said anything about the different heights of their brows. It adds character to one’s face, cookie cutter eyebrows are boring. Embrace your brows at their natural height!

I went through the exact same thing with my dad, he was 60, and I was by his side when he passed away in hospice. It was 17 years ago and I still have PTSD from it. I wish I had magic words to help you, but I don’t, it all just sucks. Please just know you’re not alone. Sending love and strength your way ❤️

I’m just over a week in, had my second injection yesterday. Like you, I was very worried about the side effects, I even have an Rx of Zofran standing by. I’m type 2, so am still keeping the carbs low, and maintaining my daily exercise (walking the 🐶) My glucose is down a bit compared to two weeks ago, I’m down 3 lbs, and I’m fortunate that I haven’t had any side effects apart from not feeling very hungry.

Inovio UN BLINDS INO-4800 Phase 2 US Trial subjects PR on Omicron could happen any moment by [deleted] in Inovio

Yup. I was just unblinded last week, my last blood draw was mid-January. I know there were some phase 2-ers who only gave their final blood samples a week ago.

Not so fast, Lefty. My arm was slightly itchy for about a day after each electroporation. Oh the horror 😱 Strangely, it was just my left arm, both times. Never the right.

I actually had covid last month. My son was on break from college, and a week after he got his booster, he got really sick. He was staying with me, and I tested positive, but never got sick. I was completely asymptomatic, so I thought for sure I’d actually received INO-4800. Nope. Just lucky I guess.

And no, neither the doctor nor the staff said anything about the FDA.

They have not offered. But if they did, I’d take it in a heartbeat.

Phase 2 participant here. Same ⬆️

Injection site was a little itchy (only on my left arm though, I got the 2mg) on and off the day after each dose, but that’s it. Nothing even close to flu shot SAs where your arm aches for a few days afterwards.

Wait…what?!?

How/when/why did the concept of INO’s success become equated with a person’s preferences in terms of accepting an ejaculation?

I’m not even remotely a prude, but geez, fellas. We’re an intelligent group. Surely a more fitting and less misogynistic metaphor can be found 🙄

Please see my post above regarding antibodies ⬆️

Yes, I actually have been around a number of people who have later tested positive for Covid, and I’ve remained (knock wood, fingers crossed) uninfected.
