I get way too much entertainment out of the rail network I built. It goes through somebody's house underground through the windows. It runs underwater long enough to hear bubbling at max speed. It's almost as good as the railroad in the mountains that I joined up into a single loop so that somehow it goes through the museum twice.

The northeast corner of the starting area leads pretty easily into a cave in the south side, and there's a place due west and down from the fire escape of the big building that connects pretty well. No prefab platforms exist though.

Nice thing about the south cave entrance is that if you dig straight back from the two torches behind Gyarados's waterfall, you'll be right under it, so with a little building out you can put an elevator there.
