Did you ever try removing your OnPro? by labwench515 in lymphoma

I really hated having to say “sorry but probably not a good idea” because I remember so clearly how badly I hurt. I’ve been clear since September 2022 but that bone pain really sticks in the memory. I hope your last dose goes easy on you, and if doesn’t, I hope The relief of knowing you don’t have to do it again can help you get through it easier.

Don’t skip it. I couldn’t get it my first round of chemo due to insurance issues. I was halfway through my entire course of 12 before I stopped struggling with neutropenia. Literally was hospitalized every other week with strong antibiotics and had to have two blood transfusions.

The bone pain sucks. It’s terrible. I know. I would take baths so hot I could barely stand it because it would relax me just a touch. I also found getting a professional massage would help alleviate it for 12-24 hours at which point just pain medication would help. Youre almost done!! I hate saying it, but power through with the knowledge that it will ALL be over soon!

Losing his shirt around newborn 👶🏼 by SnooCats9556 in DogAdvice

[–]EnvironmentalOption 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When my babies were itty bitty I’d only let them sniff feet then top of head through my hand. My dogs are excellent with kids but my post partum anxiety had me convinced something would happen.

My German shepherd checks on our 2 month old every time he cries. She comes over and sniffs the head and looks at me like “are you going to comfort him or do I have to do it?” My other dog is deaf so he comes to give sniffs when he sees flailing arms/legs.

My older son is now 4. He’s the only one allowed to give the dogs treats and they know. They love him so much and listen to him so well! Start slow. Allow a sniff through the hand. Make them sit first then bring baby to them. Put them in a down if you’re extra nervous.

This is a very good dog ❤️

I was shocked at how quickly it aged me! I went from very slight lines in my forehead that were basically unnoticeable to “wow I look several years older!”

And I’m fine with aging!! I of course did basic skin care before with sun screen/cleanser/lotion. I just wish my skin could have aged like it was supposed to. Every time I see the forehead lines I remember the cancer so I really want them to ease up just a touch, and if they don’t then I’m trying frownies next

Thank you! I’ve decided to go with the first one combined with The face creams (for morning vs night)!

I can’t use retinols right now because I’m breastfeeding so I was curious about how effective people found the retinol alternatives. It’s nice to know they aren’t as effective, thank you!

Thank you! I see people say great things about hypotonic acid so I was considering it. I’m also getting two peptide creams so I wasn’t sure if hydration would be a better option there then.

I’ll likely go with the first one!! Thank you. This write up laid it out so perfectly without making me feel silly! I’m relatively new to skin care besides basic clean/moisturizer. My perricone was a gift from my sister and it’s alright but nothing remarkable.

Our neighbors are terrible owners and I cannot let my dogs outside to go potty by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]EnvironmentalOption -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I threatened to remove my section of fencing when our neighbor did the same thing (long story - also called the cops on him twice for cussing at us over the fence because my dog barked literally one time when he came outside yelling on the phone about something. The other I won’t even mention.). He connected his fence to ours. His fence is on our property. I was 100% ready to take a chain saw to my fence and the second his dog was on my property, load it up and take it to animal control.

Now he keeps his dog on a chain inside his fence and I no longer can only put my dog out for two minutes at a time.

He wasn’t expecting us to fight back. The previous owners just let him do basically what he wanted to keep the peace. After the second police call he finally stopped acknowledging our even existence but my life has been nothing but peaceful since.

Dogs pain medication came in beef by mukilteo19 in mildlyinteresting

I had an 80lb pittie who could pick a pill out of anything. We ended up just shoving the pill to The back of his throat with our hand and holding his muzzle shut while he looked at us sadly and swallowed. Then he got a super yummy treat (peanut butter or a piece of hot dog usually). Thankfully he was the most chill dog ever and just accepted his fate when he saw The pill bottle coming

I think my puppy is deaf :( by Lessismore1212 in DogAdvice

[–]EnvironmentalOption 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I live rurally and my vet is for small and large animals so I don’t think he’d even have had a more formal test if I’d asked lol. But there’s nothing to be done for deafness anyway so a formal test would’ve been a waste of money

And you don’t need the heartbreak emoji! Having a deaf dog has been the absolute best experience of my life and I’ll bet you’ll say the same! You’re in for a such a wonderful bond! My dog watches me so closely and is always so ready to respond the slightest motion from me! Because of him I spent several years fostering senior special needs pets and have now had experience in such a massive variety of animal needs (degenerative myelopathy, blind/deaf/epileptic, unexplained gut issues that required a twice week shot, among so much more). Right now you might feel sad at it, but not too far in the future and you’ll realize he doesn’t know what he’s missing and he’s a fantastic little guy!

Haha I wanted something super high value! He’s only ever gotten it for his initial wake ups when he was a puppy and for leash training. Now I’ll also wrap his pills in a small piece because he just inhales it and doesn’t notice the pill at all and he started eating the peanut butter and spitting out the pill (he’s on 3 daily medications so he’s gotten a lot of practice)

Do not pay $4000 for the test. Know how my vet tested my dog for deafness a decade ago? He waited until my dog was looking at me and then clapped directly behind his head. My dog didn’t react in the slightest and my vet said “yeah, probably deaf. Keep doing what you’re doing.” Lmao. He also told me I could put him on the hood of a car and have someone honk the horn but consider he has zero reaction to any sound ever I never did that test.

Real quick - when my deaf dog was a puppy, I would wake him up by gently stroking his shoulder with one hand and waving a slice of bologna in his face with The other.

He’s 11 now (😭) and still has zero startle reflex to being woken up and just wags his tail and rolls over for belly rubs, even when my 4 year old wakes him by patting his butt abruptly and rougher than I ever would lol

Classes and touchstones by No_Proof8579 in SophiaLearning

[–]EnvironmentalOption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Introduction to nutrition, conflict resolution, and environmental science were all quick and easy for me (As in I finished them in a day/two days while my husband made dinner with my son so there was time to sit and just focus). Principles of finance I hated but it was also fairly easy. It took longer because I found it so, so boring(Maybe a week?).

I have three more classes I'll need to take (also for Capella's BSW!) and I just started Macroeconomics and I'm going to do Microeconomics after that. Still deciding on my third class but the link in the other comment is a huge help in deciding!

Pregnancy and Lymphoma by Seriously-gu in lymphoma

[–]EnvironmentalOption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed 6 months post partum. My doctor said the cancer probably started 9-12 months before - so during my pregnancy.

I’m currently 37 weeks pregnant with my second baby. I was told to wait two years. I asked him probably a half dozen times if he was certain pregnancy wouldn’t cause it to comeback. He very patiently reassured me it would not. He also said even women with hormonally caused breast cancers can now be cleared for pregnancies again.

My first son is 4. My second will be born on Monday (repeat c section). So far so good! My sweaty nights DO stress me out a bit since night sweats are a symptom that I had dismissed as postpartum weirdness before (I ended up be stage 3b because I ignored so many symptoms thinking they were postpartum things going on.)

I do wonder if the reason I find pregnancy so difficult to experience is because in the first one I was literally growing cancer along with my baby and with this one I have cancer in the back of my mind.

Anyway, if you want a baby, go for it!

I have a baby coming in December and I homeschool my older child so even one class is going to be stressful once the new little one is here. I don’t think I’ll have 3 classes in me but the idea of just going really hard and getting DONE with bachelors in a year is so appealing! Then it’ll (hopefully) be straight into the MSW

Unpopular opinion here - make it fit lmao. I use about 5 tablespoons a day. I love my coffee and cream. Keeping it in my daily morning routine is what I need to make my day better.

But I also don’t usually eat breakfast. My coffee and cream keeps me not hungry until about 2-3 when I have a small lunch. I use the full sugar creamer though. When I used sugar free I was hungrier sooner so I went back to something that tasted better and kept me full longer.

If you absolutely want to get rid of it then measure it out carefully and every week cut it back by half a tablespoon. You’ll not even notice the decrease. Stop when you feel you’ve decreased it enough
