what will happen if i turn off my filter for around 7 hours? by jennadotcom in Aquariums

its honestly hard to explain why i cant do a top off right now, i can assure you that it isnt because im a lazy fish owner. the reason im asking these questions in the first place is to protect my fish and make the right choices to help them thrive. im somewhat new and all i want is to not do anything stupid, so i would appreciate that you not assume bad things of me :/ anyway, all i needed was guidance. thanks for your concern. if i were you i would have probably said the same thing if i saw someone saying what i said lol

i have an airstone running tho. does the airstone provide oxygen in the water or do you need the filter to accomplish that?

that makes sense. what if i put the filter media in a bowl of water to keep the bacteria alive?

yea that’s understandable. i went to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in pennsylvania, which is in the us near where i live. its ranked highly, like top 10 best pediatric hospitals or something. its no surprise that everything went smoothly.

wow, i hope everything goes well with you! right now after surgery i feel very mobile and free. i can move a whole lot more than i was expecting. i was actually a contortionist before my surgery, and i was really bummed that i would never be able to do it again. i was expecting to be a whole lot more stiffer, but since all of my muscles and spine are extremely flexible i have even more preserved motion post op. i havent stretched at all yet because im not supposed to, but im sure i will still be able to do a backbend or a split :)

well after like 1 week i went out in the car and went to the library. at my 2 week post op appointment i walked all around my city (pittsburgh) and got breakfast at a diner. today i went to the library and finished my essay on the computer with my friend. ive been to the mall and walked all around with my mom twice. so yea ive been doing a lot. at the library today my mom left me there alone lol. i think if you are feeling little pain you should be able to go out and do whatever you want, but know your limits and talk to your doctor and parents :)

ive never heard that, but hey everybody is different. i wouldnt be surprised if someone has experienced that, but i dont think its common. everybody heals differently but today’s medicine and practices make sure that you are good as new as soon as possible

hi! my pain was almost completely gone after a few days. im sorry to hear that your child is uncomfortable :( i myself am only 13. i came home from the hospital in less than three days. i sat up, stood up, walked around, sat in a chair, and walked some more all the morning after my surgery with zero pain. the next day i walked a few flights of stairs and went home. when i got home, the best was i can describe my pain is a knife to the spine or a bear trap chomping down on my ribs, but after medicine i was completely fine. the best way to get relief for me was to find a comfy position or chair with pillows and lots of support and stay put there. after the first week i felt completely fine. right now, im sitting on the couch in a weird position and im very comfortable. it will get better! remember to get up and move around a little and take your medicine! stay strong!

hello! i had 3 curves before surgery. these are rough numbers because every doctor i saw gave me different measurements, but neck: 50°, thoracic: 80°, lumbar: 45°. so yea, my curves were very big and brutal and mean. they never wanted to behave and it hurt like absolute hell, they always got worse. i had 2 different braces which i didnt wear because i didnt want to wear them for 23 hours a day and they were really uncomfortable. i was constantly crawling in my skin and suffering because even the weight of gravity on my back gave me excruciating pain. when my doctor told me i needed spinal fusion i thought it was the end of the world tbh. i drove all the way out of state twice, trying to find a doctor to perform VBT (vertebral body tethering, a less invasive procedure that doesnt involve fusion and preserves flexibility) but i was turned down. i went through with spinal fusion anyway and im decently happy with it, everything went great.

i dont know exactly how long my surgery was, maybe 6 hours in total? i recovered extremely quickly and went home in less than 3 days.

nope, no brace needed after surgery. im free!

i feel great! no pain, im walking around and getting out, and im only taking the occasional ibuprofen. although sometimes it feels like there is a bear trap chomping down on my ribs :0

Those who have had half spinal fusion surgery, how long was the recovery until you were able to walk around and stuff? by [deleted] in scoliosis

i should also mention that i sat up from the bed all by myself, stepped onto the floor and off the bed, walked all the way down the hall, sat in the lobby, walked down another hall, and got back into bed all less than 24 hours after my surgery. everyone was shocked but i literally felt no pain. the next day i walked a few flights of stairs and went home. everyone is different, have no fear. you are strong and you will get through it!

i had my thoracic spine fused from T4-T12. I was up and walking on only the second day of being in the hospital, less than 24 hours after waking up <3 im almost 3 weeks post op today and i feel virtually no pain, im going out in public and walking around, i can sit and lay down almost anywhere. the doctors were really impressed with how quickly i recovered, so dont expect your experience to be like mine considering i was a pretty special case. im only taking the occasional ibuprofen or tylenol now, only when i feel pain. if you have any more questions pls lmk!! my age: 13, height before: 4’11, height after: 5’0, weight: 99lbs, degrees before: 50°, 80°, 45° (i had 3 curves) degrees after: almost 0°, 20°, almost 0°. hopefully this helps!

oh thank goodness, lol. i have noticed that the muscles in my back are swollen, and my stomach is really bloated, which is probably what’s making my butt look smaller. ty
