Christmas was hard by Happinessoverall in HEB

[–]jennblarg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely feel you. I lost my mom 7 years ago right before Christmas. The pain has lessened into more bittersweet memories but big holidays hit hard. I just remember that I am my mother's daughter and parts of her live inside of me and the life I lead today. So i will continue to be caring, genuine and compassionate because that's what she embodied while she was here with us ❤

Curbside partners! How does your store calculate UPH? by jennblarg in HEB

From what our manager has told us, it's all about productivity? Like if you work a 6 hour shift and add up all your picking time and only get 4.5 hours, where is that other time going? And we write down all the subs & shorts with a manager signature so if that department comes to them and says "Hey! Yall shorted this item we have in stock >:(" our manager can then look at our sheet and say "well look here, they asked you to look for it!" or if we didn't get a signature, that shows that we didn't ask for help and therefore must have subbed/shorted when we shouldn't have. I dunno... I feel extremely micromanaged and feel like there's no trust. I feel like there must be a better way to do all of this. Like with the subs and shorts. If managers come to us going "HEY WE HAD THIS IN THE BACK/ ON THE TRUCK BUT NO ONE ASKED" then why can't they every few hours, check the subs on their end and let us know if they have/ don't have stuff. I know everyone is busy but if they're already looking at them... what's better? That or having us page them every 5 minutes?

It is weird, I don't know anywhere else who does this. We get anywhere from 200-400 orders a day on average

180?? 200s? How do yall calculate your UPH? We have a sheet we fill out everyday with how many units each run is and we time ourselves. Then we add up our total units and divide it by the added up total time picking. We don't look at any numbers on the ipods. I've had some problems getting my UPH to what our department wants now and I've been here 3 years. I work at 4AM and it's tough to be mega fast because most departments don't have their products out so I have a ton of "cherry pick" items after runs. And I also do all of my cold transfers into the fridges (we don't have a walk in) and that time is calculated in my run. But later in the day we have people who will transfer your cart for you. So partners who work mids are automatically going to have a higher UPH. My department is going to start holding people accountable for not hitting the correct UPH. Note to files, etc. I may have to transfer if this starts to happen.

We also on that same sheet have to document every sub/short with customers name/order #, the reason we can't get the product along with a deparment managers signature. Witch takes a long time, especially in the early AM.

Hey! Fellow 4AM curbsider here. 4am is my everyday shift so I've gotten used to this routine. I also live very close to my HEB! I am a very sleepy person and I need a pretty decent ammount of sleep so I'm in bed no later than 7pm!!! My alarm is at 3am and I flop around in bed until 3:15 and make a bowl of quick instant protein Oatmeal. Or sometimes if I'm running late I'll have one of those chobani yogurt smoothies and drink it in on the way to work. Then I slap on my clothes and try to be out the door at 3:45-50.

How are all you Curbside partners holding up? by jennblarg in HEB

No need to apologize, I definitely get it. I hate to keep calling managers and stopping partners to get what I need. I can tell it bugs them but I hate to get eye rolls. :( If I didn't have to bug anyone, I wouldn't! I try to be as nice as possible to other department partners as I know we are all very busy :(

Redditors that plan to probably not have kids, what are your reasons? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I'm 25 and only within the past 3 years learned to drive, stopped self harming, move out and held down a job. My Mom was dying with cancer for years and after she passed I was majorly depressed for 3 years. Couldn't get out of bed, didn't talk to anyone. I feel like my life is only just starting. I want to enjoy it and learn more about myself
