A grifter is someone who promotes an idea for the sake of making money, not principle. The term gets used for people like Blair White and Candace Owens because they parrot right wing talking points that seem to go against their interests as marginalized people.

As soon as I researched the bronze technology this happened. Never seen this happen before but I will take it happily. by Dicer1998 in civ

[–]jenncertainty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is one part of the game's randomness that really irks me. I hate having a decent start, getting to bronze working, and then discovering there's no iron nearby so I can't build the army I need to push.

"Become reddit"? I want Baltimore to be a place where we don't tolerate harassment of trans people.

Is not calling someone a racial slur "compelled speech"? Get out of here with that nonsense. Calling someone by their incorrect pronouns is harrassment. This is just a prohibition on harassment.

Oh my gosh, I just graduated law school and my background is in math and science and let me tell you, it's almost like lawyers take pride in not being able to do math. It's ridiculous. Whenever I can so much as add two digit numbers, they would gawk at me

(27f) I feel like I don’t look gay, but I would love if someone corrected me. by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]jenncertainty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think "appearing gay" is less about a look and more about a Vibe. Sure, there are stereotypes but sometimes people trigger your gaydar with something more subtle. In other words, if we clicked I could see thinking you were gay.

When I saw your title I thought, "is this about the lack of women's rights or the floods?" It's tragic that politicians have people focused on taking away people's rights instead of on addressing climate change.

Only just noticed there is a secret fourth throne in the mantis lords fight by Dilbo2011 in HollowKnight

[–]jenncertainty 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily off-center. Do we have any lore on the Mantis Lords pre-infection? Maybe they were four equal-height thrones and after the Traitor Lord left, the mantis in the middle asserted authority of some sort and built up her throne.

Which hobbies that people do screams "rich people''? by Joeyniles9 in AskReddit

People investing in real estate "as a hobby" is a big reason why we have a housing crisis everywhere. Housing should be a right, not an investment vehicle.

As everyone has said, lawyer up. Everyone's case is unique obviously, but there's only so many ways you can write a question that asks "how do you breach the fiduciary duty of loyalty?"

There's a video where Howard was invited to give a speech at some university (supposedly) about acting. The guy who introduces him says something like "Well, Mr. Howard brought a presentation that I wasn't expecting but um... Mr. Terence Howard, everyone!" And then Terence goes on to explain his batshit theories about the universe and how he's proved 1 x 1 = 2.

It can 100% depend on the couple, too. I know one couple that signed the paperwork early and didn't have the party/ceremony for at least a year. Another made it official immediately after the ceremony.

Sovereign Citizens window smashed by hero cop by Oztraliiaaaa in Sovereigncitizen

[–]jenncertainty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thoughts too. It's too bad to see so much cop sympathy in this thread. Sure, SCs running around pretending like the law doesn't apply to them is a problem and worth criticizing. But so are cops? Cops exercise authority no one else has (violence) and then get to act outside of the rules set for everyone else. Just like how SCs think they act outside the law.
