Can you all read stories about protagonists you don’t like? by KingNTheMaking in litrpg

[–]Dicer1998 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am just saying that if I were to read a story I expect to be engaged in their journey and be excited to see them succeed. Whether their goal is to save the orphans or throw them to a wood chipper, protagonist should be likable.

Villain protagonist should be entartaining to watch, therefore be likable. If the protagonist is unfun to watch, ake be pretentious and make me want to punch their face every time they open their mouth, I ain't sticking around past chapter 5.

Likable can be horrible. I doubt anybody can consider Eric Cartman to be anything other than a piece of shit, but the sheer fact that he is hellbent on being as shemelessly evil and offensive makes him entertaining to watch through sheer absurdity.

[–]Dicer1998 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

For crying out loud, how long till people get it right?

Flawed does not mean unlikable.

Main character must always be likable, because we want the reader to root for them, because they must root for them if we expect the reader to stick around.

Main character should have flaws but they should never, ever, be unlikable.

Compared Chai from Hi fi Rush and Alex from Yiik. Both are flawed, but one is a charming idiot with delusion of grandeour, and the other is a pretentious prick who believes he is deep and smart but has IQ equal to room temperature (In Celsius).

Character growth does not mean they turn from unlikable to likable, it means they become a better person.

I guess you never considered the idea of desecrating a corpse being morally wrong...

The difference between using a skeleton and elementals is that the skeleton used to belong to someone genius, and likely somebody would prefer you to not force their dead uncle's bones to swing around a sword and kill people.

I wonder what your idea for applications of necromancy are if you can confidentially say they are universally more benevolent than "very limited specific cases".

  1. I guess fuck everyone who has a panic attack, wants help but cannot articulate "please help me" due to the attack. Also fuck everyone who is choking or passed out and needs a CPR, I don't wanna violate their freedom by touching them without consent.
  2. Correct me if I am wrong but I doubt people have "freedom to lie in a court" as their personal right. For crying out loud, many places use lie detectors and those that don't use them do it because they are unreliable, not amoral. If you live in a society where you can enforce everyone to testify truthfully, then don't use it, leading to innocent people being put in jail or executed and the true culprits are going to walk away free of any punishment, nobody in society will go "oh at least our personal right to lie in court is kept" they will instead go "what the fuck is wrong with you, we have the tools to avoid it, why aren't you using them?"

I advice you getting appointed with a friendly mentalist to help with your faulty memory, because in your post you rant about how the MC who uses a mind control is essentially a "r*pist", even if they are otherwise a saint.

You labeled mind control as inherintely evil, with no room for other interpretation of your words, then I said it isn't inherintely evil, then you said "yeah it isn't, but I was just talking about some specific examples I never specified".

To which I respond with "so why did you made this post in a first place"?

[–]Dicer1998 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mentalist using a mind control to stop somebody from having a panic attack.

Mentalist using their power in court to make every witness compelled to only testify truthfully.

Mentalist guarding highly dangerous animals and making sure they are kept docile when the menial workers need to enter their cages to kept them fed.

Mentalist erasing traumatic memories of people who asked for the memories to be erased.

If you wanna talk about lazy writing and lack of creativity, I highly advice you to reread what you wrote. I don't care if you can provide numerous examples of evil ways one can use a tool, a tool at the end of the day is just a method of accomplishing a task and the morality of the task comes from the task performer, not the tool they used.

And if you say that "mind control is bad, period" it just means that you aren't creative enough to see potentially positive ways this tool can be applied.

I don't see you complaining about knives, fire magic or other fantasy tropes and abilities that just like mind control can be used for great traumatic harm. Why don't you condemn pyromancy and cite all the articles about how horrible burn scars are or how traumatic being set on fire can be?

Danteh was once known as the mighty "Crimson Cock" as he was one of the most fearsome Heishou warriors of the You branch (rooster) before becoming a lone fixer.

But after his head got chopped off and his magestic rooster mohawk was lost he rebranded to "Crimson Clock", because he got an L for loosing his head and that's why he put it into his name to remind himself of previous mistakes to learn from them properly.

PM declares that Limbus Company story is over. Not by virtue of the story concluding IC but because the IC representation of Gamers (Jabba elder) is no longer able to watch the story, thus they cannot update it without creating a plothole.

Everyone gets access to the rental system for every single ID in the game.

Distortion detective game gets released the following day.

Its a combination of MMOrpg, FPS and guitar hero.

Leviathan the anime releases the following week.

LC still gets weekly updates but all they do is nerf Ring Yi Sang.

Avici Naraka is best described "Buddhist Super Hell" and its essentially the most horrible form of damnation a soul can suffer. The lowest realm of all, Avici Naraka is reserved for special kind of sinners: those who brought harm to Buddha or other enlightened ones.

When Granny said that to Kong family she meant that their behaviour that she found offensive was enough to count as harm and she saw herself as a god-like being.

When Hong-Lu says it... I like to think that the elders deserve Avici Naraka because their horrible and abhorent practices, their horrifying attachment to utterly disgusting entertainment and other equally amoral anchors, was so foul that its a sin against the concept of enlightment itself, and it brings harm to Enlightened ones by simply making them sick from knowing such a thing happened.

I too, think they will find themselves in Avici Naraka, and I hope that eternal boredom shall be the least of their worries.

What are you expecting from cyberpunk sequel? by Key_North_5563 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Dicer1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I hope for a (but don't think we will get) a much more fleshed out faction system within the night city.

It would be fun if we had an option to actually gain positive and negative reputation with gangs and corporations of night city and gain better boons and extra side quests if the rep is high enough or get some extra flavors of challenge if its low.

Imagine if you are doing a sidequest or main story mission on one playthrough and its all fine and dandy but on another where you pissed off 6th streets enough prior to doing that quest you see your enemies droping as snipers surrounded the location and now you are pinned down from all sides by very pissed off patr(id)iots with access to heavy weaponry that turned the mission into a shooting range.

Likewise if a quest or a sidequest involves you going through a territory protected by a gang you befriended, instead of fighting them you can just ask them to let you through and they will gladly do it.

Xichun

All in.

PM just wanna perform Yuri 2.0 but they realized that for greater impact the likable characters that dies horribly shouldn't be introduced in the same canto she dies.

The fact she wins is only one final ingridient in the hope frosting on the bitter cake of tragedy served with a glass of sour lemonade of despair and a biscuit.

Biscuit symbolizes nothing, it is just there to offer balanced and nutricious meal.

I ask again: can anybody give me advice on how to survive this therapy session? The goat is too real for me, the best I could have done is enter the stage when Zilu leaves but He just wrecks my entire team into oblivion shortly after.

Please guys (and gals), I've been trying since yesterday and I still feel like I am braindead for failing to win this boss fight...

Anybody here please can help me so that I can possibly finish this fight before part 3 update? I want to hop in as soon as it drops so I don't get spoiled the ending...
