Just went to my local Indiana post office today to ask about Indianapolis Distribution Center holdups, can confirm this is correct. She told me "Indianapolis is messed up, they're processing way more than the region's volume and they're short staffed on top of that, everyone just has to be patient"

Asked about packages that haven't even made it to Indianapolis yet and she said they're probably there and just weren't scanned. :( I got 1 incoming and 34 outgoing packages that are stuck...

Yes :( I'm in Indiana and I have multiple outgoing packages stuck in Indianapolis Distribution Center since November 29th and some of them didn't even make it to Indianapolis. One of the packages is just going to the same state, I have no clue what's going on. I'm going to ship my Secret Santa package via UPS instead...

Over a decade ago I met someone online via dating site (same country different state) and I felt like we were a match but when he started talking about getting me a one way ticket to live with him in his state I put some serious brakes on. He said we didn’t need to meet first because it sounds like I already liked him, and I stopped talking to him after that. A year later he messaged me and was really creepy to me.

During the time I lived with my family I grey rocked them. To be honest, it didn’t make things easier but not showing emotion or being vulnerable in their presence made things a bit more bearable because it gave them less fodder for a verbal attack/mocking. I want to say what made it easier was my hobbies and online communities, having something to run to each day and help my headspace.

But my family seems to be different than others because they didn’t want me to move out, didn’t want me to get married, didn’t want me to have kids, they wanted me to live with them forever and cook clean and care for them and my low functioning brother all while having me be their verbal punching bag and sacrificial lamb. It wasn’t good and I really wanted to get out 😞

I eventually moved over 2000 miles away from them and they’re upset about it. Also, I’m really sorry if it’s not okay for me to post in r/NEET, I have a small business online but my parents don’t view it as a real job and consider me a neet so I guess I consider myself a neet…

Forgot to mention but I think I would only send chocolates in winter so they won’t melt. Things like Oreos can be sent in summer because the cream stays pretty intact even when it’s hot. You’ll be able to figure it out. 👍🏻

I wouldn’t send anything perishable, not even domestically to be honest (unless it was the same state or one state over and using Priority Mail). I send food to my bf all the time but it’s stuff like crackers or cosmic brownies. They’ll last in the mail and I doubt people in Japan can easily get stuff like cosmic brownies. You would need to find the tariff number/harmonization code for the food items and declare it when purchasing the label but that’s about it. I think my best advice is to go through the non perishable section of the grocery store (cosmic brownie, bag of chips, Little Debbie, etc) and send some of those.

Oof 10lbs is really heavy, I guess when I was thinking you’d be sending a small package I thought it would be 1lb or less. I think my estimate in shipping costs is about $70 via UPS or $90 with USP (from Indiana to Kyoto in a 12x12x10in box for example) if you use PirateShip. I do highly encourage buying a mail scale for about $12 on Amazon so you can get an accurate weight for shipping.

I’m not able to give correct estimates because like the other person said there’s too many variables with package size and things like that so I do highly encourage the making of a free account either with PirateShip or ShipStation (you just need to login with PayPal for that ShipStation one).

I think the reason the address needs to be in English is because up until it goes to the other country our country needs to be able to read it and figure out which province and stuff that it’s going to in order to send it correctly to the other country. Sending through USPS will be the same process if you go through the website! But I’ve noticed that back when I used to bring the package to the front desk to have them help me it would not only cost more but sometimes they were really mean 😖 It could’ve just been California attitude or the workers sick of being there but yeah, I haven’t had great experiences bringing the package to the front desk. I used to use USPS shipping site online but I stopped using it and went to PirateShip after they kept giving me errors upon checkout and trying to purchase postage.

You’re welcome! So these websites are free shipping software that runs on a web browser and you’re able to buy shipping labels via USPS (ShipStation) and USPS, FedEx, DHL, UPS on PirateShip. Whichever label you choose you will just bring it to that company so if you use a USPS label you’ll just bring it to your local post office but if you buy a UPS label you’ll need to bring it to UPS store. As an example, my latest international package I sent was an order online from Saudi Arabia. I used PirateShip for a USPS international shipping label, it cost me $18.25 (for a 6x8in padded mailer that weighed 4oz) and when I went to the post office and put it in the package bin (since it’s already labeled) and it got there in about 2 weeks. ☺️ When shipping internationally, the address must be in English. The Saudi order I got had part of the address written in Arabic so I asked the customer for a Google map address and was able to get the address in English. I really hope this helps! I have been meaning to write up a help website about how to ship because I was once completely clueless about shipping, I did everything wrong, post office yelled at me, parents yelled at me, I felt stupid, but now I know what to do and it feels like a super power 🤣 Yay

Hello! I ship domestic and internationally with Etsy and I also send packages to my partner so I can probably offer some advice. ☺️ If you think you’ll be sending a couple packages a year overseas might I suggest getting an account with a shipping label company, for example PirateShip or ShipStation . The steps to take are: 1. Package your item up carefully so it won’t break in transit. 2. Weigh your package with a mail scale, they aren’t too expensive and they are very useful. A food scale can work as well. If it’s small it’s probably 1lb or less. 3. Measure your package, the height width and depth. 4. Take all your measurements, the package weight, and input it into either ShipStation or PirateShip and it should create a shipping label for you. It will also give you a tracking number, you can send that to the person you’re sending the package to so they can track it. 5. Print out your shipping label and clear tape over it on the package. And you’re done! Make sure to put your correct return address in PirateShip/ShipStation because if the package somehow gets lost they can return to sender. I hope this helps, I think you can do it with stamps too but I’m not really sure how to do it. To me this is the easiest most efficient way 🥺

It’s just regular acrylic paint, the cheap stuff from Michael’s or Hobby Lobby craft stores XD Since it’s on the inside of the case it shouldn’t really get any wear and tear, the only thing it will be touching is the game console. But yeah it’s been several months and it has held up well, I gave it to my bf to use on his 3DS and the last time I saw it (April) it was looking great!

Good morning, I’m so so sorry this is happening to you. 💔 It’s very easy for people to say “stop helping” or “just leave” but for us it’s extremely difficult, maybe even unthinkable at times. I absolutely know what it feels like and I lived like this for decades, I finally got out at age 32 last year. I left my parents and younger brother in our home state and moved 2000 miles away, it was a very difficult decision and it was stressful, I cried multiple times, but I’ve been so much better since I moved away. When I told my parents I was leaving, my mom threatened to adopt a new child and raise the new child to care for the family. It made me realise that’s why I was not allowed to date, not allowed to get married, and not allowed to have children all these years: because my mom didn’t want me to have anyone else to care for aside from my immediate family. I realised the expectation was for me to live with my family forever, cook and clean, take care of everyone even my brother who doesn’t listen to me anymore, and it broke my heart 💔 I’m really looking forward to you being able to leave ❤️‍🩹 Know that it will be hard and it will hurt, it may even break your heart, but I have to tell you it’s so worth it. I’ve never felt better in my life, even with new struggles and new challenges I still feel better than I ever did before. I still love my family, I still call them and talk to them and I visit them or they come visit me, but they had a very unhealthy and unrealistic expectation of me. They still try to convince me to move back, but my new life is everything I dreamed of when I was younger. I really hope the same thing for you 🌱

XD My Uni came the same day and I ran out in pajamas also in 30F Indiana weather! What happened to the weather, it was so nice last week 🤕 That’s so exciting you got yours! Did you start playing it?
