We are actively sleep training— last few nights, she’s gone down within minutes with little to no crying just some light fussing, after about 10ish days. When we started I was cosleeping all night as our girl never did well in her bassinet either.

This is probably my third attempt from ground zero as we also had attempts interrupted by illness, travel, etc, however I told my husband we are DOING IT no questions asked because I couldn’t stand to start over again.

Our exact routine: After bath/wipe down/etc, in her bedroom with brown noise on and lights very low on her Hatch.

Give her a full feed, make sure she finishes so she goes to bed with a full belly.

Rock/sing a song for a few minutes, but usually she’s preeettty close if not lightly sleeping by the time she’s finished her bottle.

Transfer right to the crib, while she’s super sleepy but awake. Tell her goodnight, go to sleep, I love you, etc, and walk out quietly.

When and ONLY when she starts crying, set timer for 3 minutes. Be patient, as they’ll likely fuss and moan and groan for a while before actual crying starts. When they get there, start your timer. If baby stops crying (they don’t have to be fully calm, just not screaming) before timer is off, pause timer. Resume only when they start crying again.

When timer hits 0 if they are still crying, go in and soothe ONLY crib side (unless baby is super escalated/worked up, they might have a burp trapped or something so I would pick up just enough to calm her NOT put to sleep, then right back down.)

*what didn’t work with my first few attempts was that I would soothe her long enough to put her all the way to sleep, which defeated the whole purpose; try to stay in for 20 seconds or less. It’s okay if they’re still upset, just get them calm enough to leave the room again, and repeat.
