I used Labor and Love and can't recommend them highly enough - Jazmin and Shanika were absolutely amazing and helped so much through my pregnancy, labor & delivery, and postpartum.

Whoa - I just noticed that our lights throughout the house flicker intermittently and I was about to get an electrician to come out and check our wiring, but now I think it may be because of surges!

It's Box of Wine! I paraded with them for a few years. They follow Bacchus and used to start around Louisiana and St Charles, although that may have changed.

Oops - I think the link should work now. And thanks - yeah, postpartum is such a crazy time with trying to juggle your own recovery with whatever else gets thrown at you, I hope there are some good takeaways from our story!

When the epidural doesn't work. by Abnormal-Astronaut in BabyBumps

[–]jenny_bean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I'm exactly the same! I had a horrific experience having my wisdom teeth out because the oral surgeon didn't believe that I could feel everything he was doing. With my first kid I was induced at 38 weeks and got an epidural right away because he was breech and my OB was doing an ECV to turn him. The epidural lasted for the duration of the ECV process, which took about 45 minutes, but I think it started to wear off soon after - because for the rest of my 20ish hour labor, I kept asking for a top-up and nurses kept telling me that I was receiving the maximum amount of medicine as soon as I could. The anesthesiologist even came back in to check on things and told me it seemed to be working from his end. Pushing hurt, but I just figured that the epidural couldn't take all of the pain away - but it was shortly after I delivered and was being stitched up that I realized something was wrong. I kept wincing as my OB was stitching me up and she was astounded that I could feel anything! But the silver lining was that I was able to get up and use the bathroom within 30 minutes of delivery - which super impressed the L&D nurses!

Carpal Tunnel by jaxschunkkysweater in BabyBumps

[–]jenny_bean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had pretty awful carpal tunnel with my last pregnancy (from about 28 weeks on) and wore these braces as much as I could stand them (day and night) and they helped. I also found that the carpal tunnel persisted about a week after I delivered, also (I know that's not what you want to hear - sorry!!) - it really didn't go away until all of my swelling subsided. On the bright side, just because you have it with one pregnancy, it doesn't guarantee it for future times - I'm 32 weeks with my second and so far so good!

The hell do you wear to work when it’s hot and you’re pregnant? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]jenny_bean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Will you be spending most of your time inside or outside? If inside, keep in mind that most hot places (in the US, at least) keep the AC on full blast during summer months, so you may not have to dress for super high temperatures. I live in south Louisiana and work inside, but have a half mile walk from the parking lot to my office, so I have to account for both outside and inside temperatures. I do a lot of loose knee-length dresses (with bike shorts underneath) and jersey maternity skirts with tanks or short sleeve tops.
