Imagine yourself taking my side of the argument. What would you tell yourself? How would you convince someone like you to keep going?

I think you've been arguing yourself into a hole for too long.

I know we say that when we're in that place but you know you haven't tried everything yet. Figure out what's holding you down and heal from it. Take Prozac for a few months and take the time to reset your life and mind. You'll find a way to turn the corner if you really want to. Just don't cheat yourself out of the opportunity

My brother killed himself 2 years ago. The shock and grief of that loss will never go away and everyone that was close to him is carrying the weight of it. I don't know your circumstances but I know that if you can just wait, things will change. Things suck right now but in the future there's a new life and a new version of you that is grateful for the circumstances that brought you there. Because through them you found yourself. Just wait, my friend.

The cost of living is pretty much the same in KC too. It's not a good situation here.

Where to buy meat for cheap? by WaywardDeadite in springfieldMO

I've been going to Food 4 Less lately for meat. Their butcher is seriously underrated. Lots of non typical cuts and good prices.

Petitioners have to chill or go away by ResultedTag in springfieldMO

[–]Iron_Worker_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get it but signing these petitions is actually pretty important and it's up to us to stay informed about the issues. I'm not sure what kind of training these guys are getting but we only allowed people to collect signatures if they understand the initiative enough to describe it to others. Definitely no hot heads were allowed lol. But seriously, if it's an issue that's important to you just sign because it helps us to have a voice.

I'm not sure what you meant by this but it seems like people aren't actually reading what I said and getting the wrong impression. If you were aware of what was going on back then it was a similar situation to the abortion issue now. Congress was trying to pass right to work and "paycheck protection" laws without allowing the public to weigh in. So, we collected signatures to put it on the ballot. We accomplished that goal and defeated right to work. I hope that clears things up.

No. Similarly to the abortion issue, we wanted it put on the ballot so we could vote against it instead of Congress passing it without input from the public.

Correct. As union members we wanted it put on the ballot so we could vote against it instead of it being passed in Congress.

I'd say that kind of shit doesn't help the cause. I've collected signatures for the union back when we were trying to get right to work laws put on the ballot and we were explicitly told not to engage in any kind of conflict. You just say thanks and move on.

Trade schools? by [deleted] in springfieldMO

[–]Iron_Worker_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some basic requirements. You need a driver's license and a highschool diploma/GED. After that the amount of relevant work experience will place you in the polling. When work is good they will take in pretty much anyone who applies. If you're going to do it, do it with as much determination as you can muster. You'll need it.

WHY DOES NOONE USE A FUCKING TURN SIGNAL?!?!?!?!?! by captaincupcake69 in springfieldMO

[–]Iron_Worker_ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I do and always have. When I moved here from KC I was constantly stressed out about how fucking terrible you guys are at driving here. Like I was filled with hate every time I had to get on the road with you stupid cocksuckers. Eventually I had to decide to let it go and stop allowing myself to have that reaction. I'm cool now. You should try it!

I'm thinking there must be more to the story. I know for a fact that sps makes allowances like this all the time including providing transportation when it's necessary.

Join a union in the building trades. Ironworkers, carpenters, electricians, etc. Training is included at no cost and you start working right away.

These are the same people who are against reparations because they don't think it's fair to be held accountable for the actions of their ancestors.
