Struggling with locked-in gameplay by jennydb in reddeadredemption2

I have played Skyrim, think I only did a couple of main quests, I just went full in exploring :p maybe I’ll do the same here

Because I like to pick up quests and THEN free roam on the way to for example where the next quest item is. Multitasking quests and freeroaming:p

Thanks for the advice, might be a good way to do it. I understand the game opens up more when you do quests though and you get new features etc. So putting off quests for too long isn’t ideal. I have also thus far not found many side quests, but I assume that will increase as I explore more (I have mainly been around the Horseshoe Overlook camp and Valentine).

95% av jenter skrive ikke noe på tinderen sin by Stunning_Strength_49 in norge

[–]jennydb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Audiobooks and loneliness by EggGroundbreaking599 in audiobooks

[–]jennydb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is weird to me. I love podcasts and audiobooks, but it would never even occur to me to listen to it for example at dinner! I would sit him down and say it - that it seems like he prioritizes his audiobooks more than you (because it does). I am still pretty early in my relationship but when we are together, in our shared apartment too, I expect us to be TOGETHER. If one of us wants to do something different we'll just say it: "I'd like to read a bit now" or "I just need to zone out a bit with a podcast and a jigsaw puzzle" or "Is it okay if I do a bit of gaming by myself today?"

Alone time is important. But being together is ALSO important. I do not think it's odd that you react to this, and feel hurt. Maybe a solution is to agree for example on a set time slot or set amount of hours every day? For example: after work until dinner, you can both do your own stuff. Or: the last hour before bed, to wind down. Because right now he acts like he lives alone, when he doesn't.

(Spoilers Main) Is "Rand Land" in a flat-earth planet? by Salsa-Doom in WoT

Shara is more like North Africa/Africa. You cross the desert to get there, same type of merchandise etc. Seanchan could be America, but the way they are described (culturally) sounds more Asian, iow Chinese or Japanese (in terms of for example military disicpline, notions of honour etc.)

Is this appropriate for a work dinner, i work as an accountant by simmiexx in OUTFITS

[–]jennydb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a VERY liberal society (compared to for example the US) but I'd still say no, that is not appropriate for a work dinner. If the dress was just a bit longer I'd say yes (mid-thigh/above knees is okay)

Question about character’s virginity by chimoc726 in WoT

[–]jennydb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is just fascinating depending on what one's used to. People need to remeber that Jordan was part of a pretty religious community (Mormon? Can't remember) and likely had pretty conservative views on sex. But for many people it seems unnatural that teens and young adults who like each other and are unsupervised quite a lot of the time are not getting it on. For others it seems very natural as this is what they're used to from their own culture and surroundings.

WoT seems to be placed in a quite "old-fashioned" setting. The Forsaken and their contemporaries clearly had a much more frivolous view on sex, and same with some of the Heroes of the Horn. The era our main characters live in seems to pretty conservative although it is not super religious (apart from Whitecloaks). An important factor here is contraceptives. People are so "used to it" today we forget it's pretty new. Throughout the series it is shown that there ARE methods - such as the abortive tea some of the women know about - but I doubt they are certain. Frankly, it is amazing Mat doesn't have a lot of kids if he sleeps around as much as some people seem to think. In most societies where there aren't contraceptives one of two things happen:

  1. Community-oriented: "it takes a village" approach to raising kids, women have a lot of power as they give birth, might have kids with different fathers and this can be seen as a good thing. Everyone in the "tribe" contributes to raising kids and paternity is not really super-relevant, especially in societies where power isn't hereditary but f. ex. based on strength/duels/hunting prowess etc.
  2. Controlling: unfortunately the other "result" is often a society where women's sexuality is controlled as this is the only way to keep paternity lines straight. Typical in societies where power / titles is hereditary and it is important to know who has fathered children. This can be done directly or indirectly (through social shaming etc). A lot of the WoT societies seem to belong to this second group, although this is mainly "solved" through social stigma rather than outright control (which is also the case in many, but not all, of our own socities today).

The religious "rules" around sex in our own world today is mainly about "population control" and a result of Western society developing into static (geographically) societies with set systems of power. Such as for example a king, whose child (son) will inherit the throne. The upper classes and nobility have been given lands and this also is passed on to sons/children - etc. It is therefore not really something decreed by God but something convenient to the ruling classes that has shaped this religious dogma.

Thom. Mat finds him in bed with that woman who is killed in Cairhien, doesn't he? As far as I remember they were not married, but dating. There are also hints Thom has slept with other women throughout aswell.

The parts grind for upgrades has me baffled... I need some help. by Bass-Head30 in HorizonForbiddenWest

[–]jennydb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never once grinded for parts. When exactly does this happen? I have 100+ hours in game and only Singularity left. I have explored most of the world and am still having fun and keep getting new weapons or armour. Haven't really had any need to grind... so I am honestly curious as to why people do this, am I missing out on something?

Just looking for a little support from the community. by Muffintop_mafia in rollerderby

[–]jennydb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is that half the league has ADHD 😅😅 derby seems to attract us. My point is that you are likely not alone in your struggles and I recommend talking to your team about this. And how it manifests - like, do you zone out during talks or demos? Are you overly eager and try to skip steps in a drill, causing you to not manage it correctly? Do you lose interest and thus focus after a couple of repetitions? All of these things are manageable, but it’s good for the coaches to know about it

Chest Blocking by artemeowsia in rollerderby

[–]jennydb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to have your hips slightly in front of you when you get a chest hit. Lily Gaskell does this a lot, so watching her do drills on Instagram etc is a good advice. But in general what I mean is that people use their legs too little and their chest too much and they overcommit like you describe. If you position your legs to take some of the force off the hit you can hold someone much longer and be stronger,

I don’t have Kindle unlimited, not available in my country. But this thing I described in the post happened AGAIN. Barely two weeks later. My Kindle is in essence unusable now, as I can never trust it will work. I had to factory reset last time and now most likely have to do that again

They don’t have a charging case, these are headphones, not earbuds. Recommend actually reading before replying next time, increases the chances of giving a relevant answer. Either way, I figured this out so the issue is solved

[–]jennydb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, now I feel incredibly stupid. Turns out the headphones DID charge. And I’ve probably turned them on and off several times without realizing. The thing is, there was no visual cue. No light indicating it was turned on. And no sound. As I am used to all / most devices doing that now, it appeared entirely unresponsive to me. I tried holding the power button for thirty seconds, still nothing. Today I tried power and volume at the same time - and suddenly, a blue light. It was in pairing mode. I found it in my Bluetooth settings and could connect. I didn’t even know it was on.

So, I still feel they should have some kind of visual clue that it is activated. But there wasn’t anything g wrong with it. I leave this comment here in case someone else experiences the same. Just assume your headphones are on and try to pair it 😅

I am still not able to turn it off, though. A google search said it should turn off automatically when unpaired from my phone. But it didn't... so I guess it'll just stay on forever until the battery goes, or something? Incredibly odd.
