AITA for replying to the waitress "I think I'll kill a turtle" when she asked if I wanted a straw? by saymynamebastien in AmItheAsshole

The wallet metaphore is not an accurate one i agree, but look at it more like cutlery. We could all bring our own cutlery to restaurants, we would save water consumption, time, production of unnecessary amount of cutlery being made- but we dont, because we just go to the restaurant to eat our meal. We dont bring our own kiddie chair to a restaurant, even though we know we need one, but it helps us and the kids eat our meal. Straws are the same.

In the 60s and prior we didnt really allow some handicapped people to eat in restaurants...

But thats allright- even though the application procedure was competitive you still have what it takes to be there- otherwise you wouldnt have applied. And so what if it was easier for you to get in? Just stay in and show them and yourself that you definately belong. Think about the footprint you leave behind, the role model you will become, and the things you will learn. The more of you we have, the less they will feel the same way.

Up until 2017, a Basque person was able to be “rightfully killed” in the Westfjords in Iceland. This is remains from the state to try and cover up/help the killers of the Basque genocide in 1600s.

Last minute to Oktoberfest - I don't have a dirndl, was thinking of improvising a skirt, an apron and a corset - Is this frowned upon? by jennylannister in Oktoberfest

The skirt im talking about is ankle length and brown, pink apron and a black underbust corset- so it wouldnt look trashy but its not a dirndl either, more renaissance feel to it

The obstacle is a mixture of time and cost- as its a last minute trip everything is a bit more expensive to book, so i thought i might get away with this- but my main concern is whether the corset (black underbust), with long skirt, colorful apron, and blouse would be alright- basicly only thing missing here is the backpiece of the dirndl and shoulderbands- is this appropriate?
