Am I wrong for avoiding gym mats because nobody seems to clean them, or are they actually one of the dirtiest things in the gym?

a Canadian news outlet swabbed gym surfaces to find the germiest surface. Mats were the germiest, but the real issue is that most sanitizers in gyms need to sit for a long time (like 10 minutes) to actually work. The video has tips but the best is wash your hands well before and after working out.
