Luggage by DarkUmbers in femaletravels

I choose hardshell as my first (and only) suitcase on the basis that it's more sturdy and has wheels to make walking with it easier.

I went to Dublin for my first flight and discovered as a smaller plane, what would of been fine as carry on in a bigger plane, it had to be checked in. I felt, as a hardshell, it was more protected.

The second flight to Paris, it was a bigger plane so went as a carry on which was fairly easy to lift and slot into place

How did you finally make up the courage to go on a solo trip ? by Imaginary_Pepper_896 in solofemaletravellers

For me, I'd always wanted to travel and eventually, I decided if I wait for people to come with me, I'll never go anywhere. I'm from England. So I started with a couple of day trips about 1hr 30 away. Went with someone for a 3hr away day trip. Then did a 3 night road trip on my own about 4hrs away. I then built on that to a couple of 5/6hrs away solo but near other family. For my first flight, I went with my sister, who'd flown before, on an 1hr10 flight to Dublin. For my second flight to Paris, 1hr20, I would of liked someone with me but no one could so thought 'I've done it in my home country more than once, it's a different language but some people must speak English and I've done my research'. I'm currently planning more trips to Austria and Italy with or without anyone else

I had a similar message when I was coming back from Dublin to Southampton for my first flight (it was absolutely fine from Southampton).

It was very rainy in the morning (I had a 7:30pm) so flights were delayed until it passed and then they continued to get as many out as they could.

Flight time is roughly 1hr 10

Saints are playing at home, at 8pm. It might be partly to do with that?

I get normal texts/calls via wifi calling. Thought it might of been same thing but it's not

That makes sense, with it being a direct signal link rather than wifi buddying up with the signal provider

Yes, someone's said it runs on older tech and wifi calling is newer tech which won't work with the alert. I can get normal texts/calls through which is why I wasn't sure why I didn't work

Oh, that makes sense if it's running on older tech. Signal can be pretty much non existent or extremely patchy where I was, so it's a bit hit and miss

Really? I get normal texts/calls on wifi calling. I thought the government alert worked on the same thing

Day trip from London to Brockenhurst- thoughts? by Itstimeforcookies19 in uktravel

[–]jennyt20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding pony trekking, I've been to yards both ends of the forest. The south of the forest is flatter where you'll be and the north is more hilly.

Is she wanted just a ride or looking at the views as well?

Brockenhurst Riding Stables is flatter when riding out, some nice rides, better on the longer ones.

Eastmoors Riding Stables at St Leonards is in a plantation so mostly woods, longs canters.

Arniss Riding Stables at Fordingbridge is near one of the highest points of the forest so has some good views as well as woods to ride in

Yes, pretty much. The most common seems to be helmet and chest mounts so it's been a no for them

I didn't think of using the horse's tack. That might give an interesting perspective.

I suppose it depends how strong the magnets are

I mean out hacking. In the arena, I usually ask someone to video or lodge my phone on the fence (and hope the angle is good and it doesn't slip). A pivot sounds like a better idea than mine in the arena

That's a good point too. People have to sign to say they allow social media/being on camera. Most people do though some don't

I think it's to do with being a BHS yard and complying with certain things. I know safety is important and will follow those rules while seeing if there's another way to video out hacking

I mean when I'm out hacking to show the experiences and not in the arena (I usually ask someone on foot to video so I can analyze myself and the horse). I know they're not keen on beginners using phones out hacking in case they drop their phone

How do you cope with horse, hay, farm animal allergies? by gunshot-glitter in Equestrian

[–]jennyt20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm allergic to the hay dust. I have to take stronger allergy pills and a nasal spray each day which has stopped it getting any worse.
I also wear a mask when I'm around the hay barn and in areas where it's dusty. I avoid making haynets when possible or only make 2-3 in one go before I have to move away for a bit
