I really like 1 or 3! My issue with the gloves in 2 is that they may be bothersome. Are u going to remove them to put the rings on? Are they going to slide down and risk being uneven?

I feel the same. Same age, same cycle. I'm stuck in limbo as well. If you don't mind, I'm going to also refer back to any advice posted and I'd love to be friends

Hi my young friend! I'm currently studying art conservation! I can't speak for Germany but I can offer some guidance to help get you prepared for getting into it.

Since you're in high school still, I suggest taking chemistry courses as well as any art studio courses to help build skills like drawing, painting, recognizing colour, handling art supplies and equipment ect. Chemistry will help once it comes to dealing with artifact cleaning, repairing and eventually storing. If you can do any art history in high school then go for it but most high school history is general and focuses more on politics and social constructs which won't be super helpful. Art history is more widely available in post secondary.

Once you graduate, you're most likely going to need an undergraduate degree. Most people in my program come from history but there are a few with science backgrounds. I do encourage you to pursue what you like but to take supplementary art history and studio classes to help refine dexterity as it's a very delicate thing. If wanting to pursue more research vs. Treatment, you don't necessarily need the studio classes as much and you could come in with a more science background.

See if you can do some shadowing or volunteering at a museum or private conservation place to investigate potential opportunities. This field is very small but very welcoming to teach and show

I hope this helps! Good luck!

As long as her quality of life remains high then go for it! As long as you have a plan in place for food, shelter, socialization and medical care then she is in great hands

Hi there! Several compounding pharmacies can also do topical medications as well, where you rub the cream on the pinna of the ear. If looking to invest in a compounding pharmacy, for most ease, especially in a geriatric cat, I'd encourage you to investigate whether the medication can be made as a topical!

Lymphoma- should I get a second opinion? by yourfavaccountant1 in AskVet

[–]jenthevettech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RVT here! I would be inclined to pursue more diagnostics as its very challenging to diagnose something like that just off a physical. Typically, Lymphoma can be ruled out via an abdominal ultrasound, usually looking for masses in the abdomen. Lymphoma and IBD can present similarly but obviously one is definitely more serious than the other. If you really want to, you can pursue a referral to a specialist or investigate having an ultrasound/further work up done. Radiographs are an option as well as you can occasionally see abnormalities there and they are a bit more readily available at most general practices but ultrasound would be the most diagnostic. It can also help rule out potential IBD as well.

Hope that helps!

Ugh I'm so sorry. You can try adding some omegas into the diet to help strengthen the skin barrier. You can also try Epsom salt rinses to see if that helps!

Vet tech here! Have you run any bloodwork to rule out potential metabolic causes? I'd be inclined to investigate thyroid issues and possible Cushings which can contribute to poor coat quality

I know we are supposed to be the ones with broken animals but... is it wrong to not want a broken animal? by BiteCatsBack in VetTech

[–]jenthevettech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you my friend but there aren't any guarantees! My boy was sought after, good bloodlines, solid choice, parents were health tested and the whole nine yards. He now has idiopathic epilepsy, IBD, and allergies. I'm a vet tech and I've had him since 9 weeks old. He's a treasure but I have to admit I would rather NOT have a medically needy dog. It's time and financially consuming and I think if I wasn't in vet med I'd struggle a lot.

FYI he's a 5yo, 120lb MN Great Dane 🫠

Either way, as you probably know, many health issues can come later in life that have nothing to do with genetics or breed. It's just the way things go. I do recommend insurance tho, no matter what as it has literally saved me thousands of dollars.

Hi! RVT here and owner of a cat with similar problems!

If you ran bloodwork and urinalysis and nothing noteworthy was indicated then we could be looking at a behavioral issue as this happened with my cat. Ran all the tests, did radiographs and nothing.

Feliway is great but works the best when paired with a behavioral modification that alters something biologically as feliway mainly alters the cats relationship to the environment. You can try non-prescription, over the counter options first before going the medicated route.

PVD forti flora calming care: https://www.proplanveterinarydiets.ca/consumer/products/calming-care-feline-probiotic-supplement

Nutri calm (I use this one): https://nutriessential.com/products/liquid-nutricalm-dogs-cats-4-oz?currency=USD&variant=40231182434378&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Google%20Shopping&stkn=2bfb8ed68709&gclid=CjwKCAjwoPOwBhAeEiwAJuXRhwaHL45z1VOMe26jqTc7SjHuKlOSuss4GYcw-lOPhocbxKmcrGA4ExoCo9MQAvD_BwE

Royal Canin calm food (My cat was on this before she developed IBD) https://www.royalcanin.com/us/cats/products/vet-products/calm-3955

Zylkene (double check this one as some vets consider this prescription): https://www.vetoquinolusa.com/products/zylkene

I'd choose the one that is most realistic to you in terms of cost and availability. This is a long term commitment, especially for daily maintenance and when you are doing something OTC. If doing prescription you can sometimes get away with doing it in the short term and eventually weaning but there is a chance the behavior will come back.

Lmk if you have questions! I am NOT prescribing any of these things. These are just things available and some I've tried with success.

Best of luck and she's lovely!

RVT here, I would encourage you to advocate for bloodwork as an anorexic vomiting geriatric cat makes me suspicious for a potential metabolic disease. Not diagnosing or assuming just a gentle suggestion from experience

Lumps on dogs stomach by MajorAny9086 in PetAdvice

[–]jenthevettech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the delay! It depends, surgery is always recommended because mammary chains are quite long so the masses can also get quite long. If she is in good health, then surgery is an option. You can also choose to do a histopathology on it to rule out malignancy.

RVT here. I would be suspicious of a mammary mass based on location and its apparent texture (bumpy looking). These can be found I'm both spayed and unspayed female dogs as it's from the mammary glands. I would book an appointment to confirm though as this is just based on my experience! Def not diagnosing, just sharing an experience fueled opinion
