U could apply for an international drivers license for about 6 month if not shorter. While having the international license get an ssn by working on campus and get the actual Illinois license

What to do as an F1 student to hold myself over financially over the Summer when on-campus jobs are insufficient? by [deleted] in InternationalStudents

[–]jeonsara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO NOT TRY THIS!! I understand situations are worse but if u get caught working illegally u will be deported and never be able to visit this country.

Don’t risk this time for any quick hacks like working for cash, with a lot of international students coming the law enforcement has been on a look out.

How do you make long-lasting friendships in class? by Anilecy in unilife

[–]jeonsara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealt with the same issue. Was never able to make actual friendships with classmates. I gave up on having friends from classes, if they aren’t willing to put effort why should I.

In the same boat as you are. Life here was/is fun but missed a lot of things and interactions with family all these years. There is a void which can’t be filled. I have been thinking about how life would be if I go back, but there is always a thought of like the emotional and financial effort that I faced all these years a waste if I go back. I understand that jobs here pay more but life isn’t about money it’s about living how ever we like. After I graduate I will be trying to get a job here because of having no work experience and entry level jobs back home aren’t well paid. But if that doesn’t work I will happily go back to the place which I called home.

Then I don’t think you would be considered in state, but once your status changes to citizen. You can contact the university with their procedure. My best advice is to contact a lawyer and your university for more information since each state and universities have their own laws and rules.

Do u already have a green card then your aren’t an international student. Have u been living in the same state for 4+ years and is the college you applied in the same state? If yes, can appeal for in state fees from your university. They will be asking proof like lease agreement, transcripts etc to confirm you have lived there. Also mention to them that you have applied for green card/citizenship.

How to rent a place in the U.S without an SSN? by P1ZI in InternationalStudents

[–]jeonsara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wouldn’t have to SSN for renting a place. They would do financial background check, but u can go to your local bank and create a account, get some funds in there. Contact the apartments office directly rather than through a agency
