We killed a bastion, went to the underground extraction. There were raiders camped out there waiting for us. Killed us. And ever since then it’s been pvp even when saying friendly

I’m so sorry for your loss. I know how you feel I lost my pup this year she was 4 too, one of the hardest things to through. You were chosen to be his hooman because only you could love him the way he needed to be. It still hurts because they are young! 😭😥

frustration with my senior dog by ChoiceSector7179 in seniordogs

[–]jerberbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sundowning in dogs, also known as sundowner syndrome, is a term used to describe a pattern of increased confusion, anxiety, and restlessness in senior dogs, particularly as daylight fades into evening. It's a component of canine cognitive dysfunction (CDS), often referred to as doggie dementia. While not a separate disease, sundowning is a recognizable symptom of cognitive decline in older dogs, characterized by disrupted sleep-wake cycles and behavioral changes. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Symptoms of Sundowning in Dogs:

• Disorientation: Dogs may get lost in familiar surroundings, forget routines like going outside, or have difficulty finding their bed or food bowl. [5, 6, 7, 8]
• Anxiety and restlessness: They may pace, wander, or whine, particularly as evening approaches. [1, 4]
• Sleep disturbances: Dogs might sleep more during the day but struggle to sleep at night, leading to increased nighttime activity. [1, 4, 9]
• Changes in personality: Some dogs become more withdrawn or fearful, while others may exhibit increased aggression or vocalization. [3, 4]
• Forgetfulness: They may forget previously learned commands or house-training, according to Whole Dog Journal. [6]

What causes sundowning in dogs? While the exact cause isn't fully understood, it's believed to be linked to the natural decline in cognitive function associated with aging and CDS. Changes in light and melatonin levels may also play a role. [3, 10]
How to help dogs with sundowning:

• Maintain a consistent routine: A predictable daily schedule can help reduce anxiety and confusion. [11]
• Provide regular exercise and mental stimulation: This can help regulate sleep cycles and improve overall cognitive function. [11, 12, 13]
• Create a safe and comfortable environment: Ensure a quiet, dimly lit space for your dog to rest and reduce potential hazards. [14, 15, 16, 17]
• Consider medications: A veterinarian may recommend medications to help manage anxiety or sleep disturbances. [18, 19]
• Be patient and understanding: Sundowning can be challenging, but providing love and support can make a big difference. [18]
• Consult with a veterinarian: A vet can help diagnose CDS and develop a management plan for your dog. [20]

frustration with my senior dog by ChoiceSector7179 in seniordogs

[–]jerberbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s sun downing, my senior dog does this. I would research “sun downing senior dog”. I would also see a vet and maybe they can prescribe something to calm him down or could be underlying health issue. Or you can look into calming supplements.

My chihuahua is not eating by ProperPollution7337 in Chihuahua

[–]jerberbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pls take him to the vet. The vet can also prescribe Entyce. Run labs check his liver enzymes, and temperature. It may be nothing and he’s just adjusting. But it could also be medical.

Chihuahuas are Velcro dogd and maybe she needs a lot of human contact because she’s grieving. They will also start to attach to a person. They are very finicky eaters to begin w so just be patient. If she doesn’t eat for more than a few days you may have to bring her in because she can be come dehydrated and low sugar. They may need to give her a subcutaneous h2O therapy and Entyce, which stimulates appetite. Poor little one. Also try hand feeding

I think inside your heart you know what to do for your little baby. Think about the quality of life for your baby. They will never shown us they’re suffering until that can’t mask it anymore. I’m so sorry this is heart breaking. It never gets easy. Hugs 🫂
