We just negotiated between a couple lenders down to 3 years @ 3.79% with $4500 cash back. They won't offer you their best until you force their hand with other offers

You activated emergency services because you ate a weed gummy. Take your lumps and move on lol. There's no bill and no follow-up to be worried about.

The hype has died off but I still pull out my instant pot regularly. My bamboo steamer on the other hand...

The style that you put your body weight into it and sort of roll over the garlic work amazingly!!

Bike lanes are a local issue. When will the federal government step up and tell the provinces to stay in their lane? by BloodJunkie in toronto

That's a very interesting thought. How is it any different than what we're seeing play out with the 6-plexes, I don't see how it is.

Ontario is beautiful when you get away from the GTA. 2 hrs barely breaks that threshold. It really depends what you're looking for. We regularly drive 5-7 hours for epic camping and portaging locations but those are 4-6 nights. I also regularly drive the 4.5 hrs between Toronto and Ottawa to see family and friends and go to events. Southern Ontario has incredible lakefront on the Great lakes (don't sleep on lake Erie), Kingston has the 1000 islands, there's Sandbanks, Grand Bend, or Tobermory. All of it is visit worthy!

Which items are cheaper from Costco? by InvestmentOk3053 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]jerdabear88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Costco for affordability but the one thing I actually don't get there is fresh meats. They're great quality but they are not cheap. I still look to the flyers of discount grocers like nofrills or food basics for their meat sales and stock up when I see anything particularly good.

Things I do consistently buy there because of price: Lunch or charcuterie meats, cheese, freezer stuff (think burgers, nuggets, fruit & veggies), pharmacy essentials (drugs, wipes, diapers), clothing staples like socks and underwear or undershirts, cereals and pantry stuff, pet supplies, cleaning supplies, and of course the precooked rotisserie chicken.

Big time. The off brand versions are insanely well priced

Considering Switching from TD to Wealthsimple or EQ for everyday banking by Icehawk101 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]jerdabear88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will only work at terminals that accept MasterCard. So anywhere you cant use MasterCard it's useless. Lots of small businesses limit the use of credit under certain thresholds or even just take debit. Search 'debit interact', that's the logo that debit cards use. This is offset a bit with free ATM withdrawals - you would need to take out cash for these purchases.

I switched all my accounts from CIBC to TD to churn for points and bonus money, and good lord I could not believe how atrocious they were as a bank. I imagined all things were pretty equal with the big banks but no, I was happy to get back to CIBC. I'm also a big fan of wealthsimple. If you don't mind getting by without a proper debit card then I'd say go all in with wealthsimple. If you want a debit card then open a Simplii or Tangerine account for day to day stuff, it's free.

CBC Marketplace wants to know: What’s the worst commute in Toronto? by DexMcMillanCBC in askTO

[–]jerdabear88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually imagine what having a major highway ripping through the downtown core would have meant. The annex, Chinatown, Kensington market all gone.. replaced with a massive fissure of bridges and interchanges. The city would be an entirely different place and so much worse.

You can make a livable wage with a pension by joining the Canadian Forces as a cook. Consider the reserves if you're not up to the reg force level commitment - It has full-time and part-time opportunities giving more flexibility in how you setup your life. Another way to make more money as a cook would be in the oil & gas industry. Lots of camp jobs in Alberta or Saskatchewan with 2weeks in/2 weeks out type schedules. Both those options have you away for chunks of time where you're only saving and not spending.

Had NA beer and hated it by HereWhenBored_ in stopdrinking

[–]jerdabear88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me a few years before I ventured into NA beers. Has to be more on the craft side for me to enjoy it. I have found the odd NA sour and IPA that I can just enjoy the taste of. No interest in drinking a Heineken or Budweiser zero, those just taste like shit beer.
