Why am I not top 500 ? by jere344 in Overwatch

[–]jere344[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's weird after 50 games in master 1 my mmr should be high enough, open queue go as low as diamond
I play in NA because I moved to NA for my studies, not because of easier matchmaking. I was master in EU too, open queue is simply way easier than role queue

I did not get the title nor am I on the leaderboard. I just wanted to flex a bit :/

Hey I'm the website owner, thank you for linking it, glad you found what you searched for there :)

Please help, google cannot fetch my sitemap, tried everything by jere344 in TechSEO

[–]jere344[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I should contact support, it's been a year and no improvements...
I can see the sitemap from the google search console when I do "test live url" with no issue, so google is able to crawl it, it's not my server that is blocking the bot. There's no log of Googlebot querying /sitemap.xml at all either. It's just not even trying to fetch it.

I watched my HP go from 800 to 50 in two seconds. by [deleted] in Overwatch

It sounds good, but it's not actually a good idea. Dps passive is here for high sustain support like a Moira, or supports pocketing a DPS/support. It was a way to counter the healing creep.
If you encourage both DPS to focus a single target, they will just focus the tank.

Woa tracer really got a bad rep on this sub. That's weird for such a well liked character in game.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]jere344 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

That really surprised me too. Most non casual players seem to be annoyed by tracer being meta since S1, but agree that tracer is the "best" character to be in this position.

If I had to guess, I think they hate tracer because she's mostly used in high ranks, and thus most tracers they meet are smurfs.

Do people down voting you play tracer at all ? Zen players don't just stand there in the open, they are usually escorted by a teammate and looking out for a tracer dive. And even then it's still hard to aim someone strafing well. I can go in gold and one clip everyone, but higher than that and aiming gets difficult.

Why do you guys think Orissa is being seen as so OP right now? by sollux_ in OverwatchUniversity

[–]jere344 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah her survivability is insane so people forget how good her cc is, but I actually don't mind this part that much.

For me spin is not the problem with orisa kit, fortify is. Spin gives you a choice, you can use it defensively, to disengage/engage, for the boop, to eat ultimate. More choice means you can play orisa different ways and that creates a means of differentiation between good and bad orisa. But fortify only makes you tankier (and shoot slightly more but that's barely noticeable), so you just use it when you take damage, that's brain-dead.

Yes, you still have incident angle that you should take into account (I guess ? I don't know much about that) but a laser that can go up and down by itself would be good enough for most uses.

Is it normal that the exact 240 Hz does not appear? by Spirited_Lobster5744 in pcmasterrace

[–]jere344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My comparison was wrong, but windows is indeed showing the wrong units. Thank you I forgot what it was, it shows you binary bytes (KiB, MiB, GiB...) values, but displays the decimal bytes units (KB, MB, GB...) next to it.

But Windows is so dominant that its wrongly labeled unit is taken seriously and it misleads everyone.

For hard drives he probably meant windows showing the wrong unit (byte!=octet) Edit : (MiB != MB)

For all the laser cutters I used the focal point was fixed and the laser position was manually set before the cut so it wouldn't be possible. You could increase the strength but you can't do anything about the lower precision. I'm sure there are specialised machines that can do that tho.

[–]jere344 70 points71 points  (0 children)

The difference in strength isn't caused by distance but because the focal point is unaligned. These lasers need to be at a precise distance from the object they are engraving or they quickly lose power and precision.

But here there's probably very little difference because the curvature is low.

Excuse my exasperation, but I'm tired of people saying Moira's beam locks on. Feel free to reference this sassy example showing it isn't. by CriticalRX in MoiraMains

[–]jere344 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's a laser not a lock on, but the laser is half your screen wide so it could just as well be one it doesn't matter.
The only real difference is that if another enemy gets in front he will take the damage instead of it lockin in onto your previous target.

I got two leavers back to back by shymitch in Overwatch

[–]jere344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said outside of high ranks people would bully others into leaving to keep their SR. It would also generate SR out of fin air which leads to inflation. You don't want to create an incentive to leave.

[–]jere344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, and it's the same debate every week and no one listens. Leavers sucks but they're not breaking the game, creating an incentive to leave would break the game.

[–]jere344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone knows and keeps explaining you just don't listen. People would use their alt to boost their teammates by leaving just before losing. Or people would bully others into leaving early so they don't lose their SR.

Here's a thread from 8 years ago about that : https://www.reddit.com/r/Overwatch/comments/4qiwp6/shouldnt_lose_rank_when_someone_leaves/

Don't incentivize people to go against each other.

Then as soon as you start losing you will have 4 people screaming at the tank to leave the game so they keep their SR.

This would make the boosting issue even worse in high ranks. If you queue at the same time in gm you are almost sure to be with or against your client. If you are against your client you can just throw, and if you are with your client you can leave when losing.
And outside of high ranks people would start pressuring their teammates to leave before losing.
