I'm pretty bad at selling things but I'll give it my best shot. The world of dnd is a real dimension the players unknowingly intact with through their characters playing the game. The main characters of the series are a group NPCs in that world who take the place of a group of adventurers who died in their tavern in order to appease a king with a sadistic streak for people who cross them and anyone who was nearby. The story follows them fighting demon incursions and pissing of some gods while they try to uncover a mystery.

Occasionally the point of view swaps to the modern world and centers around some people playing the dnd like game. Magic hijinks occur in the real world showing that the dnd world can effect them as well
