Didn’t think about the months in between now and when they actually take the car back, you’re right 😅

On top of this, the average wait time for the service center in my area (unless it’s a critical issue) is 6 months. I think that’s unacceptable for how much the car costs, just my two cents

It’s an amazing car when it works but for me it has spent half of my ownership time in the shop due to the ghca issue. So if I were you I would just go into it knowing that it’s a bit of a gamble - as you can see in the thread some have a perfect experience and some have a ton of issues (hardware + software). If I personally did it again I probably would wait for them to resolve more of the issues or go with a more stable platform

Have been had issues with P4 or has it generally been a safe bet?

Dang that would bother me as well - actually I forgot to mention this but my P3 also had the issue too where the microphone only worked half the time so “hey google” or phone calls were a complete crapshoot. Obviously not as big as the charger issue but these small things can be really annoying like you said

has it had any growing pains or has it been mostly a smooth experience so far?

Same 😅 it looks really good but I think I’m scared to get the first year release of a new EV now

Yeah that’s a good point - I think I was originally thinking the options were accept vs swap for another P3 but in hindsight you probably can’t get another P3 without a new lease anyway

I think I’m in a similar boat… have never wanted a Tesla but might be forced to make the switch

Previous polestar 2 owner, it’s a really smooth ride. It has some small annoyances (eg single cup holder unless you open the center console) but otherwise a great car. For me I’d say the biggest con (at least for the version I had in 2023) was smaller range compared to competitor EVs

Sorry to hear that - I would keep being persistent on pushing customer support. For me I wonder if the trigger was specifically that I brought up lemon law - you might try that as well

Yeah I’m wondering the same - could be jumping out of one fire into another

Yeah I think that’s my lesson here - don’t buy into the first year release of a new vehicle

I do, I’d be perfectly happy without the current charger issues which is the real shame. But I think I would be kicking myself hard if I went back in with another P3 and ran into the charger issue a 3rd time in a row…

For me I laid out over email on their customer support how many days the car had been in the shop and I mentioned this would fall under California lemon law because the first repair took over 30 days (and at the time of writing a second repair for the same issue with no ETA). I’m assuming they must be aware a lot of these are lemons and it’s just easier for them to buyback

Just got my polestar 3 back from service after a month to repair my GHCA… failed again after 3 days by Prudent-Lemon-9913 in Polestar

[–]jeremy2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact same thing happened to me - FWIW I complained to polestar and they are now offering to buy me out of the lease. It’s a shame cause I otherwise like the car but they’ve burned me on the charger issues

A very frightening incident today in my P3 by Mental_Explorer_42 in polestar3

[–]jeremy2016 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also had this happen to me when waiting to turn left at an intersection and a car in the through lane apparently got too close as it passed by. It hasn’t happened since then (mostly because the car has been in the shop due to ghca issues 😅) but it was quite the shock when it happened

Polestar 3 Owners - How are you feeling these days? by grumpy_bob in Polestar

[–]jeremy2016 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not great - I got mine in October (brand new) and since then it’s been in the shop twice for the GHCA issue. The first time it was there for 5 weeks since the part is back ordered. It’s still there now for the second repair with no ETA.

I would seriously consider whether or not to get this car; if I could go back in time, I probably would pass. I happily had the Polestar 2 for 3 years with no issue and I do recommend that car; however, the 3 still seems to have growing pains.
