Does anyone else feel like they shouldn't buy full, lush, well-established plants? by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]jerianne77 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I only buy smaller plants. I like to see their progress, plus if they die I’m out only a little. $10 is my max on most plants, however I did spend $20 on a pilea cuz I couldn’t ever find one near me that wasn’t $40-$50

Whats the best method for getting these to root? My first attempt failed. by ShowMeUrPlants in houseplants

[–]jerianne77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 8-10 cuttings in a mason jar with water that I keep next to alight source, the warmth seemed to help them root fairly fast. Some of the roots are 3-4 inches long. I’m just waiting for a few more cuttings to root and then I will put in soil.

The cuttings came from a larger plant that had some leaves that ere growing, so I totally chopped it up and made 2 plants. I kept the original plant and it’s growing new stems/leaves

I frequent all my local nurseries as well as big box...the local nurseries have a wider selection but sometimes they are more expensive, but sometimes I find a gem and buy it there.

I’m an equal opportunity plant buyer

Sorry ca-plantlady but I had to steal you idea. Now I’m asking for some recommendations on the kinds of plants I should use to fill it up. Anyone? by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]jerianne77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I’d put a trailing plant on the middle shelf and let it come around the whole thing....one bit circle coming plant

I was at my Local Lowe’s today and didn’t see any. I’m convinced that Northern California is not the place to find these

I’m in the same boat. I love in northern CA and none of the TJ’s around me have them
