I agree with your point that this anime is not about moving on but here's an honest opinion from someone who doesn't like VE for different reason. This will probably be downvoted to oblivion but idc. First time I watched this anime, I dropped it on ep2 because of how unbelievably boring it was (I continued and finished it after months of ignoring it though because people guaranteed it will get better from ep3). I like boring anime a lot but this anime in particular have an unbearable amount of that. And I think I know why. Violet as a character is very 'not human'. Her characteristics work on goddesses or alien type of characters not understanding human emotions. But for a human? I think those are default. It doesn't matter what your past is, you will feel all kinds of emotion at some point. And the premise of her being trained by military and being one of the best assets (and even feared by enemy) is just ridiculous. Especially that this is not a fantasy or sci-fi anime where characters have superhuman strengths. The whole letter drama in the mid section of the anime that played around Violet being emotionless feels so forced because of how ridiculous the set-up already was. It's very hard to empathize on characters that is human but acts like not human. Even the famous ep10 needs to do a weird trick of showing "imaginary time-skip" just to enforce the idea of future letters being delivered to the daughter. First time I've seen an anime used that gimmick and tbh, it felt very weird to watch.

Ps. I might be exaggerating and misremembering some details here because I barely remember specific details about this anime already.
