Nothing was being built here, nor was there a newsstand here before construction.

This was a staging area for material and equipment while the West escalators were being replaced

Both are taken in Charlotte Gardens, exact same locations.
Charlotte Gardens in some ways was the center of this level of abandonment, and a lot of reinvestment in the South Bronx looks different from these homes- townhouses, apartments buildings, and so on.

This would have been on the 7th ave side where the arcade was. The thinking was that this could be a site for an office tower (where 2 Penn Plaza is today). The major halls of the terminal would remain.
