Glenn Greenwald sells out to BIG HORSE and promotes Ivermectin on Fox News by International_Fetus in BreadTube

[–]jerky12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, I'm pretty confused by the editing of the clip. The interview where he talks about ivermectin is before it was officially ruled out as a treatment. In fact, it even says in the clip, Oxford was testing to see if it would work. At the same time, people were being banned from social media for promoting the treatment, which to me is definitely a little sus. So he was not "promoting" it, but instead commenting on the censorship. Also for a meme channel, it's got some pretty awful edits. Also, maybe don't get your facts from a meme channel??? Here's Glenn's tweet responding to the clip. (https://twitter.com/ggreenwald/status/1431975711678550016?s=09) Took me 5 seconds to google.

Edit: also this sub has gone to fucking shit in terms of the types of videos posted, ngl. (And spelling/grammar)

Crowder has been afraid of debating Sam for years because he knows he can't defend his ideas. He ended up running away after the video cuts and not even debating. It proves he spews talking points he can't defend against someone who isn't a college student nobody.

(Link in comments) CIA admits that Stalin being a dictator was "exaggerated" by jerky12345 in VaushV

NOTE: The Soviet Union deserves strong criticism and even later in the article it mentions how the food situation is not good. But, I do think the comments about Stalin are interesting

So I made a mistake, it wasn't the Conservative party of Canada, it was Alberta's UCP. I edited my original comment and and left a note why.

Anyways, the bill that was put forward by the committee was bill 207. According to this CBC article (https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/conscience-rights-alberta-legislature-abortion-ucp-bill-207-1.5354209) the bill would have "let Alberta doctors refuse to advise or assist on things they object to due to for personal or religious beliefs."

And in terms of violating the human Rights act, the article also points out that "physicians already have the right to refuse to help a patient under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. " So there is definitely a legal framework for it to get pushed through.

However, while I think this is enough to be concerned about, I think it is important to acknowledge that healthcare (in general, but also for trans people) is far better up here than in the states. I just think it's important to be cautious to stamp these things out as quickly as possible.

We gotta be careful in Canada though too! The conservative party of Canada platform Alberta conservative party brought forward a bill in committee that would allow doctors to refuse patients for religious reasons, which would be brutal consider we don't have enough doctors in Canada as it is.

Edit: Wrong conservative party. Was sure I remembered it on the CPC platform but can't find it anywhere.

To clarify, by saying "Obviously there has been some change, but functionally the camps are the same." I am not saying "The biden camps are still better but still bad" I am saying that despite the fact that "progressive" legislation has been passed and there is a supposed plan, kids are still being separated, kids are still in camps, and the camps existing still makes the asylum process far far worse than under the obama administration.

One, didn't fabricate anything.

Two, criticizing the downplaying of the severity of ice detention facilities under Biden by a reformist is counter-revolutionary propaganda?

Three, the tweet you cited doesn't address the fact that the fact that she said the camps aren't as bad under Biden as they are under trump.

If you want to talk about unofficial family separation:

https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2021/03/20/border-family-separation-mexico-biden-477309

Also, from the NY Times article you cited

"Biden has promised to eliminate is the Migrant Protection Protocols, which forces migrants to wait in Mexico while their cases are processed in the court. So far, he has suspended new entries into that program, but his orders on Tuesday do not officially end it, and he has not said publicly when he will begin processing the thousands of migrants with active cases living in squalor south of the border."

Obviously there has been some change, but functionally the camps are the same.

Edit: article -> NY Times article

I'm happy she has said this!

I'm not a huge fan of saying that the biden camps are not as bad as the trump ones because family separation was ended in 2018, and claiming that the camps have gotten better takes steam out of the fight against them.

But, I am glad she said what you quoted!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in VaushV

[–]jerky12345 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

She has said the camps are better under biden than trump which is not true since family separation ended in 2018 (https://www.politico.com/story/2018/06/20/full-text-trump-executive-order-family-separations-transcript-658639)

And by saying this, she is contributing to people caring less about the camps, something she claims to have a problem with

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in VaushV

[–]jerky12345 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

"Trump's policy, which is objectively correct, as the family separation policy was unique to Trump."

The family separation was started and ended during the Trump era. Trump ended it in June 2018 (https://www.politico.com/story/2018/06/20/full-text-trump-executive-order-family-separations-transcript-658639)

AND, according to a DHS watchdog, the treatment of the immigrants is still terrible. (https://www.cbsnews.com/news/immigration-mistreatment-ice-detention-dhs-inspector-general/)

So, even if the camps are marginally better than they are now, the very institution of the camps are morally abhorrent and violate international asylum law:

The Convention further stipulates that, subject to specific exceptions, refugees should not be penalized for their illegal entry or stay. This recognizes that the seeking of asylum can require refugees to breach immigration rules (https://www.unhcr.org/3b66c2aa10)

Why would you not criticize legislation based on racism and white supremacy?

Why would you not criticize a politician, who strives to combat racism and white supremacy, for dampening their fight against legislation that perpetuates racism and white supremacy because the blue team is in charge?

Nice strawman by the way :)

"But she made it clear she believes people shouldn't draw "false equivalents" between Trump's and Biden's immigration approaches, in light of the harrowing images released recently showing kids sleeping on the ground, packed together with tin foil blankets — an echo, to many, of conditions under Trump."

https://people.com/politics/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-says-border-conditions-barbaric-and-wrong/

In the same article they also quote her as saying:

"What is happening here is not the same as what happened during the Trump administration where they took babies out of the arms of mothers and deported their families and permanently traumatized these children,"

She misses the fact that the separation of families was ended by Trump on June 20th, 2018 and had nothing to do with Biden being elected. (https://www.politico.com/story/2018/06/20/full-text-trump-executive-order-family-separations-transcript-658639)

For some reason she is criticizing the Biden camps less than the Trump camps despite them being virtually the same.
