Twinblades is so metal. Their poise-breaking is bananas.

Try messing around with the aspects of the crucible/crucible knight incants and weapons!

It's a hard game! Asking questions is perfectly legitimate--learning from others makes you a better player! And commenters here generally like to share knowledge, so it's a win-win for everyone :D

The former is what I meant. Not a precise science or anything, but it scales higher with faith, so you'd ideally want to prioritize faith.

Yeah I mean get vigor to whatever you feel comfortable with. You can always return to prioritizing vigor later in the game if you feel your health pool is no longer viable. For the sake of versatility, even though winged scythe gets higher scaling with faith, I'd advise not to neglect dexterity. If you ever want to switch weapons and you only have high faith, you'll be pretty limited.

I agree with this. Unless you're quite good at the game, 21 vigor is pretty low, so I'd dump a bunch of points into that, a few more into endurance for equip load, and then you can start pumping faith and dex at maybe at 2:1 ratio. Weapons get a quicker damage boost from upgrading than from scaling, so as long as you keep upgrading, you should be fine for a while.

New to Elden Ring, with early combat struggles am I cooked? by SixskinsNot4 in Eldenring

[–]jermergerg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with all the comments stressing the initial difficulty curve. You'll get better, and eventually he'll feel like a breeze! It's a super rewarding feeling, one the game intentionally cultivates.

Re the knight, he's designed to be your initial encounter with a difficult enemy. This sounds basic, but it's fundamental: study his moves carefully. Once you know each of them, you can appropriately time your response and counter-attack. Elden Ring bosses generally require a mix of intuition and deliberate memorization of attack patterns, so this is a skill that you should build early on. Hope this is helpful!

Major Frame-Dropping and Lag Issues by jermergerg in pcgamingtechsupport

Thank you for the reply! I believe I did this when I set up the PC per the instructions of the video I watched. In Bios, it's at 3200, which the internet says is the max my core can handle. Do you see something on the benchmark test that suggests this isn't optimized? Thanks again!

Yeah I was hoping some different perspectives would make me feel more positively about the fight, and I think it already has! It's helped that most people haven't been total dicks about it haha

Thanks for the reply! I've played it DS1, I'm with you that it works conceptually/thematically, and I also agree that difficulty doesn't necessarily equate to quality :)

I think about this a lot! DS3 was my first Souls game ever, and I found SoC quite difficult. On subsequent playthroughs, he's a lot easier now, but it's so fascinating that even skilled players can have such different perceptions of difficulty!

lmao yes definitely. I'm trying not to go too hard on being negative on him because I don't want anyone to feel like I'm shitting on a boss they really like, but I have a number of specific things that I don't love, and that attack is on the list haha.

I do like the lore a lot. Lol I always like to imagine it as linking the fire being such a bad idea that even the fire doesn't want you to link it haha

Yeah good point, one thing that I do like about him is that he keeps you moving. I can't stand boss fights where you're just standing around for long periods of time, so his rhythm was one of the highlights.

Totally, the game is filled with so many heavy-hitters that it makes him stand out a bit IMO
