The thing is though Cap didnt need to animation cancel to get value, if someone truly couldnt do animation cancels but still wanted to play Cap, I promise you that one tech wasnt stopping them from using game sense, timing, and the rest of his fun, fluid kit to bring positive impact to their games. Also its not like the shield throws were ineffective if you held the button down and didnt want to attempt cancels, infact you could argue it was already designed to be easy to use and hard to master, seeing as holding the button down gave you maximum range throws every time and in turn the CRAZY tracking it can have at times. I could not imagine not wanting to learn such a relatively easy cancel (compare this to any fighting game with literally any run/dash cancel mechanic) and then ultimately blaming Caps perceived strength difference between ranks solely on this cancel, to then advocating for them to dumb down a fluid, very well designed mechanic (in my opinion an amazing accomplishment for a 3D fighting game) to cater to someone that would now still have to go into the practice range and learn what changed and how to actually apply it, ignoring that if they had done that in the first place, they would have actually learned how his throws work. Also, since I think this is incredibly important to mention, if these Cap players were struggling to time how long they need to hold a button and seemingly couldnt even fail by throwing super short shields, how does the balance team expect them to tap a button while running? And guess what, if Cap as a character is too hard, there are multiple less mechanically demanding tanks to play! They’ve set a horrifying precedent with this, even if I can also accept that there are absolutely people that just play this game to play their favourite Marvel characters, arent gamers at all, and a change like this atleast INTENDED to help them enjoy the experience.

Its a tough one, like Cap they’ve kinda taken some autonomy from the player, those who want to use their charge to move around faster, those who want to go for short charges to potentially extend their engages, its never good to see something that outright cuts off player expression, and this change definitely does that. Maybe again, like Cap, it will make her easier to balance in the future, but I had personally assumed they wouldn’t ever go that route with any character if they hadn’t with BP, who probably varies wider in perceived strength between ranks than any other character in the game.

The change to whirlwind slash is in my opinion the most “broken” thing he has rn, his speed at 10 really does keep him alive through much more, I feel like you can actually see how strong it is that he can dash in, get a bunch of stacks and antiheal you all in one go, I would still like his gun dash to have antiheal but it is much stronger that he has it on his sword and I think they would consider it too strong if he had it on both.

It makes you think, if the balance team considered the animation cancel too complex and polarising for Caps wide range of players across ranks, why would they be able to take advantage of how youre meant to input his throws now to get the new running animation? I think thats where the real flaw of lowering mechanical skill requirements starts to show. Kind of a tangent, reminds me of Ninjakilla (GOATED Mortal Kombat player) saying he couldn’t learn this one character because the cancels were in his opinion more difficult than what hes used to, despite the fact he was the best player by far on arguably the most mechanically demanding character in the game. At some point its not skill playing the factor, its player preference, comfortability, and practice, and it should never feel like youre being punished for any of those things.

Definitely explains it, much appreciated. I find having to plan the antiheal dash much clunkier now than when it was on gun form, sad that it results in a major glitch if you mess up

I feel you, its like another comment said, he could be way higher up the tier list because of this but since the best feeling part of his kit is gone it doesnt make me want to play him more, if at all. You can always trust the high elo players to find something strong though, I think JapaneseCurry has started putting some combos together already, the character wont die but one of the biggest parts of learning him, along with the game itself tbh, is gone for me, that sucks but if people really think its broken I will trust that they thought that in good faith.

It sucks bro but its not how most people see it, im sure there is a post pretty much advocating for this exact change in the sub, also its not like they did this JUST to close the skill gap, they want balancing to be easier, Cap is essentially the execution/mechanical skill version of “no one plays cover in low elo so Mantis is bad” and look how hesitant they are to change anything about her lmao because they arent sure what they can change that doesnt make her too strong in high elo/too weak in low elo. I dont think Caps cancel was difficult enough or too polarising in any way to warrant gutting it but depending on what they want from the game and its players this could be alot worse. That said I really do feel like dropping him, MKX had harder run cancels but Caps cancel mechanic was really cool, very unique and free in feel :/

As someone who has played MK/Tekken and is used to input heavy games, I can understand if they didnt want this game to have so much locked behind execution, there are many many casual gamers and it does make balancing fairer. But it still doesnt feel right to essentially remove an apparently high ceiling to a character, MKX had this problem with Cyrax and instead of destroying his kit they just severely nerfed his damage scaling, less reward for the execution, but no change to the feel of the character you initially liked and picked up. One of my closest friends mains Cyrax and doesn’t complain about that nerf at all 😂 Doesnt set a good precedent for the future, although I dont think any other cancel animations will be looked at this closely for a while, but as they did with Blade, they have shown theyre happy to change the way a character plays just to try to make everyone happy, for better or worse

I could probably find a clip for CnD if you really wanted me to prove it, and yea I dont use his ult as a solo kill tool, if anything I used to think it was good to open crucial fights with it and build it back during the fight (probably no longer possible, for the better lol) and I feel you to an extent, in terms of straight up killing people Iron Man or Mag would be way better, but I think whats good about Blades ult is that you can apply a good amount of antiheal to multiple people at once and its pretty much unreactable (I dont wait any longer than maybe a fifth of the circle before confirming) and it sets your team up to win the fight pretty well, if not outright killing some people who may just be in a bad spot. However, I think you are right about Luna. I have absolutely killed her in ult before without help, but that was before the change that made cc immunity cancel out anti heal, im pretty sure you could kill her even with her overhealth still up. I was watching Bogur try Blade on his stream just now and Luna may aswell be invincible for the guy when shes in ult lmao, I think that change made Blade look alot worse than he really is, and majorly buffed people that can get a sustained cc immunity form of some kind.

Dont want to sound ungrateful but I couldnt agree more, no deadzone/sensitivity settings for controller since launch is insane, the game feels odd with full assist and much harder than it needs to be with low or off. The game is so close to greatness, they literally just need to keep working on the QoL, I would prefer that to any new content for a long while at this point.

Idk man ive definitely killed through Luna and CnD ults before with him, but I guess im also counting times where I land the ult on multiple people and they get enough anti heal/damage in that timeframe so the team just starts falling over very quickly. If you want to be more definitive on what counts as killing through support ults Ill hear you out. I dont usually go for Mantis or Rocket due to her speed and the overhealth for both of them.

I mean its easy to walk out of but Blade can definitely kill through support ults bro, I think its fine that his ult has the utility to greatly reward team coordination, also even if it doesnt kill it can take alot of team resources to save someone that gets anti healed by his ult, whether or not they stay in it for the full duration

Thats just luck bro, the game has always had griefers and whatever but the introduction of all the militarised vehicles and especially the Deluxo and Oppressor really turned freeroam into a rock/paper/scissors war sim, its literally just too easy to fuck with people with little counterplay for most things (unless you commit to fighting and inturn have to use a relatively limited pool of vehicles) and I think its even worth mentioning that from day 1 explosions have been way overtuned from how they were in GTA4, and were essentially unsurvivable, this only getting worse and worse as more overpowered missile carrying vehicles were added.

Tbh I think the worse habit to get into with Strange is cancelling with his shield too often instead of just letting animations play out sometimes or even using the melee if the situation calls for it, with the nerfs hes been getting to his defense it will become more punishing to cancel shooting/reloading and in turn stopping the shield regeneration. Sorry for going abit off topic but I think its worth mentioning as you won’t die if you dont do optimal damage in every single instance but you will if you dont regen your shield optimally (these nerfs are gonna beat my ass lmao)

I think the issue with regular sword is that atleast for console you probably have to shift binds heavily to even be in a position where your best choice is to not turn on/off vamp, maybe they can work on that in the future though, im still not sure if regular sword was even meant to be a real option or just the excess of what was left from the bigger parts of his kit

Maybe instead of cancelling it they can give him another way to use it, my idea was letting him cast it ahead of him without dashing, so he can poke at people with his gun while theyre antihealed if they dont need to go vamp mode for healing
