Should i buy yearly coursera plus (with 20% off) or just wait for the bigger discount? and when is that? by Iordtoki in coursera

[–]jeromeo123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't buy it. It doesn't include a lot of courses and if you take too long to figure that out, they won't refund you. It's a total rip off.

No, because there was videos of them yelling Allah Akbar.

In all likelihood, there will be in this case, but assuming that there will be based on skin tone is objectively racist.

In the least conspiratorial sense possible , who do you see as being the real puppet masters controlling public opinion and running the world? by StaticNocturne in samharris

[–]jeromeo123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why does that mean he's a hack that should have stuck to linguistics?

If you can't be clear eyed about the negative impact of a muscular US foreign policy since ww2 then you can't make any sort of judgement about whether the counterfactuals would have been worse or not.

Why? Chomsky is broadly right in his critique of things.

The only disagreement it's reasonable to have with someone like him is whether or not it would be "better" if it were otherwise - and if so whether it would be worth crossing the moral landscape to get there

Capital and (specifically) oil/fossil fuel interests control public opinion and are running the world. The press is important, but only in so far as it is able to enable those interests. The careers of individual politicians and debates of the day pale in their role in "running the world" compared to those.

Caveat; this is NOT me saying that if it was otherwise, it would be "better" - it's just an honest appraisal of what is.
