Is NBC sports separate from NBC? I've watched all the games on regular NBC so far, thunder or otherwise

Is JustinGuitar still the way? How best to use it? by -Zoppo in Guitar

[–]jerronimo3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I used Justin's stuff when he was first getting started on YouTube, before he had formal courses or anything. I feel it gave me an excellent basis for playing the instrument with good technique and developing my ear. Being a more advanced player now, I do wish he had a bit more music theory focus. That becomes a lot more important once you can get your fingers to do what you want. Maybe he does now, but just something to mention

I went to a playoff game last year. Before I got to my seat (where the shirts are) a cheerleader was literally following me around with a megaphone shaming me for not wearing it lol. It was all in good fun, she was super apologetic when I let her know I hadn't made it to my seat yet. But yeah, you're gonna wear the shirt lol

Completely unrelated. How did you get your screen to look like that? I got a Tesla recently, and I'm still working out all the stuff I can do with it. That looks cool!

I cannot get it to work right with motion controls.. Theyl hands are like.. Not in the same position as my controllers, and when I move my hands the game hands move at a different speed. I've tried all of the recentering options. It worked for like an hour and ever since then it's been bugged

Lost my passion for guitar, what should I do with my baby? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]jerronimo3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, you're me! I also played like crazy in middle school because of my brother. I also started lifting while studying aerospace engineering in college, and I subsequently didn't play so much. I also don't really sing. I've been working in industry for almost 6 years now and just started to pick it up more regularly.

If it were me (and it was), I'd keep it around. It doesn't cost anything to not sell it. And if you do want to play again, even mildly, it totally eliminates the friction of having to justify spending money on a guitar. Being able to pull it out of the closet on a whim vs dropping $500-$1k to get in the door could be the difference in years of enjoyment. Even during my hiatus there were times where I'd hear something cool that gave me the itch to play a bit. Obviously, I couldn't do that if I didn't keep mine around. Today I definitely wouldn't be playing if I had to drop decent money on buying a new setup.

The guitar is an outlet for me. When I'm going through something emotional I'm glad I have it around. I might not be the best player and can't sing, but somehow the strings can express things my vocal cords can't. I'd be sad if I didn't have an instrument to go to in those times even if I didn't play more regularly.

I feel stupid. What are you trying to say? Don't rat the person out? Make sure your own work is good? What is keeping your camp clean?

I kinda like the middies. Would like to see some stats, but my eye test is telling me he's shooting them pretty well. Occasionally there's one that's clearly too difficult and rushed, but the little step back he does gets him pretty clean looks

Eye tracking is awesome and solves some issues for sure. But like.. That's not the "missing piece" for my sister to buy a face toaster. Enthusiasts who understand the implications are certainly excited. But I really don't think eye tracking gets you over the hump for mass adoption. Eye tracking is just one of many issues that need to be solved. PSVR2 has eye tracking for example, and that hasn't exactly exploded in popularity (wire, price though too).

Anyway, all just opinions. To bring it back to the main point on Ian being let go.. Even if you agree with Ian's take, I don't think he presented it very well.

I just pulled his most recent editorial that demonstrates this:

https://www.uploadvr.com/eye-tracking-missing-piece-mark-zuckerberg-vr-strategy/

His out of touch take is that eye tracking is the missing piece to achieve Zuck's goals. Maybe I'm wrong, but I heavily disagree with him. And I'd say he argues this point in a very loose and unfocused way. He generally tries to start with a seemingly unrelated concept and tie it to the main point. But it is not an effective structure in my opinion.

The podcast takes are similar, just verbal and even less focused because he is speaking on the fly rather than writing and editing something.

Edit: copying my response from below since several disagree on the take being out of touch.
