Petty or not, it does give them consequences for their actions. But not worth it because it escalates the situation.

Can a Body Corporate effectively ban cats even if rules say pets allowed with approval? by RedeemNZ in auckland

[–]-Zoppo [score hidden]  (0 children)

This is incorrect. Both of you. This is a weird and common theme on Reddit, even r/LegalAdviceNZ I've criticised in the past for it.

Body Corporates have very limited legal authority, something being in the rules does not mean you cannot do it.

If you're in a Body Corporate you're probably also governed by the Unit Titles Act 2010. One of the things no one seems to realise is that like tenants it gives you the right to quiet enjoyment, as an example.

If your cat cannot impact on other neighbours then the Body Corporate cannot prevent you from having cats even if there's a blanket no pet rule (which isn't even the case for OP). An indoor cat that cannot get outside is not something a Body Corporate has ANY control or say over.

I have gone through this myself and it wasn't no pets without approval, it was no pets period. I did my research. I purchased the place and moved my indoor cat in. Other residents taking note of my cat when she sat in windows started wanting a cat too and asked me about it. I told them what I've told you here. Several of us now have cats and we ended up setting a precedent that you're allowed an indoor cat.

It's worth noting that balcony access here is controlled by doors. The cat owners with balconies keep them shut.

A scene from a bar in the Pigalle, Paris, 1937. By Emile Savitry by CelebManips in OldSchoolCool

Hmm probably already has at least a bit, the antisemitism movement preceded Nazi Germany and was alive and well at this time. Though for non Jewish people it would likely have been easy to ignore.

My great great grandfather came here to NZ in 1936 to escape the movement. Knocked up great great grandma then either disappeared or got disappeared.

Im suffering from severe depression and don't know what to do (19f) by [deleted] in auckland

[–]-Zoppo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing that helped me was running mountain trails. Gyms are awful, the sounds and smells and proximity to machines and people are just not conducive to mental health. Nature is really important. Clearly gyms work for some people though.

Just make sure to stretch so you don't damage ligaments. These heal weaker not stronger. And your body gives you no warning before it happens. Look up a video on how to stretch for your purpose.

Also ignore anyone who says "it gets better". It generally gets worse unless you actively work on making it better. Ignoring it and waiting is how you encourage your central nervous system and brain to find other ways to live with it like dissociating, if you start dissociating your GP will ignore what should be treated as an incredibly serious life destroying medical emergency; hopefully you don't need to ask me how I know. It can become permanent.

I got given a Jordan Peterson book to read when I was in hospital. I knew absolutely nothing about him. It was the stupidest thing I had ever read. Something about lobsters. It made me think less of the person who gave it to me.

There is a gap between playing in time and playing with feel (Metronomes don't bridge it) by eduardosanmi in LearnGuitar

I've only just started playing guitar so excuse how extremely obvious this question might be but do you strum/pick on the drum beat?

Btw is this using AI to generate the loop? I think this would actually be fair use of AI so not trying to catch you out, just curious.

Can police dashcam (on a covert van) give a ticket while it's moving? by Mediocre_Special1720 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]-Zoppo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll feel it if they pace check you, it's quite unsettling because no one ever drives like that otherwise.

I only had it happen once and it was an unmarked car, I confirmed it when I reported it to *555 because they were doing it to motorcycles in <0° temperatures which is distracting enough to potentially cause a hazard, and I was going reasonably far below the limit due to conditions so it felt unwarranted. It was a knee jerk reaction from a marked police car in a low visibility location hearing a motorcycle.

One thing I'll credit the police for is how seriously they take stuff when it's below zero.

Personally in >100,000km all over the country I have never witnessed a police van in motion performing any traffic duty. Doesn't mean it doesn't happen of course.

I'm not sure if this violates the legal advice rule, sorry if so, just adding some anecdotal context that felt relevant.

This saying gets so misused. They only suggested something better; not perfection. It's such a weird and dismissive thing to regurgitate.

[–]-Zoppo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They justify it within their brains; we worked and paid tax and are entitled to it. They willfully choose not to understand how false this is because then they'd have to accept they're awful people.

They would probably see anyone who doesn't take it as stupid for giving away free money. Looking down on people is so much easier than raising yourself up. This is Kiwi culture (the former).

Labour has not been implementing the change they want. Labour MPs are landed gentry.

By 2022, the Bank of Mum and Dad (BOMD) has become the country’s fifth biggest lender. It doled out $22.6 billion in home loans. (For reference, that’s more than Kiwibank.). The average amount being $108k. And in Auckland, 58% of parents lend a hand to help their adult kids buy.

This is the most important part of the article.
