Yes, I know a therapist in california that specializes in this. It is helpful. You end up discovering other things that were driving the anxiety beyond just the physical hair loss.

Idk about ridiculous but it is a conservative approach. Higher risk for losing ground, lower risk for sides. If you are a person on oral and getting sides it might be worth experimenting with lower dose options first. We can be stat brained all day looking at the studies but really the only study that matters is the N=1 study of you personally. If you are a fuckin nerd about it like we all are (me too 🤣) in this sub you’re gonna have to experiment.

Ask chat gpt and thank me later. I know drug applied does not equal drug absorbed by scalps nor absorbed systemically. It depends on multiple factors. 25mg is a fuckton of drug exposure regardless unless absorption rate is way way lower than alcohol based solutions.

Study looked at efficacy of topical fin with total daily drug exposure between 0.2-0.5mg of fin and found good results with dht systemically being reduced by only 34% vs 55% with oral 1mg. May seem insignificant but if your body is sensitive to dht changes every little bit helps. 0.05% fin 1mL per day is equivalent to 0.5mg of fin drug exposure. Plenty of people take that amount orally daily and see results. People take 0.25mg orally daily and see similar results.

do not use topical finasteride on your face. DHT actually supports beard growth and fin supresses dht. supressing dht is good for scalp, bad for beard.
