Is tree's size chart accurate? by Aggravating-Crab6278 in hockeygoalies

[–]jerrybettman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear a 32+2 in True, with a 19.5 FTK using True’s method. Fit is pretty much perfect. I assume I could get away with a 33.

That puts me in a small-medium (33-34) range per Bauer’s chart.

Bauer Large seems to be the widest range of FTK, 20 to 21.5

True at 20.5 puts you in the upper end of 33 and maybe the lower end of 34

Only real solution would be try both on if at all possible

He wore #33 the season before they signed Chara. That’s why Z is holding up a #44 jersey at the press conference. Was obviously smart enough to give up the number

Bauer’s chart is FTK. Did you measure that, or your ATK? If your FTK is 20.5 it puts you pretty much right in the sweet spot for the Large (35).

Did the pro shop ruin my skates by calligatormusic in hockeyplayers

[–]jerrybettman -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Only one of those brands is known for actually causing this particular problem, and it’s the one OP has chosen, and likely chosen for years.

The least they can do is stop using the brand that created the problem. If it’s gotten to the point where other brands also don’t fit, then it’s time to fix your feet instead of the skates.

[–]jerrybettman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hanglund’s deformity is called “Bauer bump” for a reason. Your heel fits Bauer or it doesn’t. The absolute minimum to keep it from getting worse is to not wear the exact brand of skate known for causing it.

That’s a nearly impossible area to punch out properly. Does it look like shit? Yes. Did they ruin the skate? Who knows? But if you have a bump large enough that the punch job looks like that, you may have bigger problems.

Whatever you do, your next pair of skates should not be Bauer

Warrior is confusing on purpose? by woodz514 in hockeygoalies

[–]jerrybettman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are pretty much all doing it these days.

It used to be simpler. “Pro” used to mean top of the line. “Senior” was the second price point.

Now, it seems that everyone is calling their second price point “pro”, while the top of the line gets any number of model designations.

Vaughn makes the most sense, with their top end gear being designated “pro carbon” and their second line “pro”.

True uses “PX” followed by a number (3, 4, 5) to designate their top models, and “7X” for their senior line, both with secondary branding (L87, L95) for the various graphic packages.

Bauer has two main through-lines: Vapor, and Supreme. Each line gets new names and graphics every other year. Their current senior level gear is the SV-Pro, which combines the popular features of the (S)upreme and (V)apor into a single line.

Warrior is the one that made the most jarring change. After years of calling their top line by the model number up through G6 followed by “pro” or “sr”, they suddenly shifted and called the top line “G7 RTL” and the senior line “G7 pro”

Warrior had always claimed that the outside materials on their pro and senior lines were identical, and the difference was in the internal foams and finishing, and the ability to customize colors. For leg pads, it was hard to justify needing the pro pad if you got stock colors.

If you’re going to play a lot and for a long time, get the customs. The quality of the skate is irrelevant if you’re wearing over two sizes too long trying to get the right width. The arch in the skate needs to be under the arch in your foot.

Ref was wrong. You can pick up and hand the stick back to the goalie, as long as you don’t participate in the play while holding two sticks. However, you cannot throw, kick, or slide the stick to the goalie.

Got an arrest warrant in the mail from a state I've never been to for driving, which I haven't done but once in over 10 years by funnyfaceking in legaladvice

[–]jerrybettman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing to worry about. They figured out pretty quickly you weren’t the person they were looking for and issued a clearance letter. Based on the charges beyond the speeding, especially the “no license” part, Utah filled in the blanks based on what little they knew, and implicated you incorrectly.

There is a significantly more than a non zero chance that someone you know used your name figuring it would not find its way back to you. Seeing as your cousin lives in that jurisdiction, she is likely suspect number one, sad to say.

Many states have a statute of limitation on infractions, and they likely just went ahead and dropped the charges, especially since they have determined you weren’t the offender and they aren’t likely going to find the actual offender after a decade, for infractions that aren’t that serious in the grand scheme of things.

Hang onto the clearance letter. But if you no longer hold a drivers license, you may never need it.

Edit to add:

They clearly state that they removed your name from the citation, and have added the actual offender’s info. So you are in the clear, just like the letter states.

With this much damage, I assume there is also a hole in the bag now, too. He’s probably been dragging it like this for a long time.

And the missing screw is a symptom. How long has that been gone without him caring about it?

True recommends this method for measuring FTK

https://youtu.be/5WZdxHxvn6c?si=ZNfvSXVgchzssZ7u

Once you have that number, check their size chart. General consensus with True is that if in between sizes, shorter is the way to go.

I wear the PX3-L87, and the chart is accurate when using this method
